Soul Devourer Chapter 7 Episode 30 — The Tables Turn
The enormous door, large enough to completely eclipse the volcano, slowly creaked open.
The boss of the SS-Rank dungeon, Typhon, finally revealed its monstrous form.
Possessing three ominous skills, Typhon unleashed a murderous【Roar】.
A deafening roar so overwhelming that it seemed to make both the earth and the heavens tremble.
However, neither I nor Samael and the others were affected, as our Spirit values were equal to or greater than Typhon's.
Realizing that its【Roar】had failed to intimidate its enemies, all its 100 writhing dragon heads fixed their gaze upon us simultaneously.
Opening their jaws as though preparing to devour prey, they unleashed a barrage of blazing dragon breaths from their mouths.
On top of that, each one had been enhanced by【Azure Inferno】.
Since this dragon breath wasn't【Fire Magic】, it couldn't be nullified by【Spellbane】.
...«Water Wall»
Pouring in more magic power than usual, I erected a massive wall of water before us, large enough to protect Samael and the others as well.
The water wall completely blocked the azure dragon breaths.
Typhon followed up by combining【Wind Magic】with【Parallel Casting】, launching 5 enormous wind blades.
I activated【Void Magic】, «Transfer».
The 5 wind blades were sent right back at Typhon.
“GROOOAAARRR!”
Its own【Wind Magic】struck Typhon directly, but thanks to its high Spirit stat, the damage didn't seem particularly severe.
Even so, it must have felt the pain, because it roared furiously.
Then...
Typhon stopped attacking.
Is it hesitating because it realized its magic could be reflected? Or is it waiting to see how we would move? Or perhaps it is preparing something else this very moment?
I couldn't tell.
But if it wasn't going to move...
Then we'd make the first move.
“Samael! Attack with【Venophage】!”
“Tamuel! Your magic can't damage it because of【Spellbane】, but keep its attention with your spells!”
“Nox!《Lævateinn》can bypass【Inviolable】. Stay on the offensive!”
“Carmilla!《Sköfnung》ignores【Inviolable】as well. The moment you see blood, use【Cruor Dominion】to increase our forces!”
“Understood.”
After issuing my orders, Samael, the others, and the Bloody Soldiers we'd secured during the battle with Echidna all charged Typhon at once.
Facing our advancing army, Typhon combined【Fire Magic】,【Parallel Casting】, and【Azure Inferno】, unleashing countless «Fire Spears».
“What a waste...”
Once again, I activated【Void Magic】, «Transfer», sending the countless «Fire Spears» straight back at Typhon.
“GROOOAAARRR!”
Azure flames engulfed Typhon itself.
Taking advantage of the opening, we successfully closed the distance and reached its feet.
The assault began.
Samael bit into Typhon, trying to crush its sturdy dragon scales with his jaws.
Santa Muerte bombarded it with spells of various elements, drawing its attention.
Nox Chevalier swung his massive sword with tremendous force, carving damage into Typhon with flames that would not extinguish until the target had been reduced to ashes.
Carmilla also swung her healing inhibition sword, while the SS-Rank Bloody Soldiers swarmed all over Typhon.
I, too, relentlessly wielded the《Fly King's Soul Harvest》, making full use of the Unique Skill【Zero Sever • Oblivion Edge】together with【Slash Arts】,【Warp】, and【Air Step】, attacking with enough momentum to sever all 100 dragon heads.
However, Typhon possessed【Instant Regeneration】.
Every wound we inflicted closed almost immediately.
Even so, the cuts I left behind produced a considerable amount of bleeding.
Seeing her chance, Carmilla activated【Cruor Dominion】, creating more and more Bloody Soldiers one after another.
Each Bloody Soldier possessed combat power comparable to Typhon's.
However, since their primary means of attack was physical, they were unable to inflict any meaningful damage upon it.
Still, being swarmed by such overwhelming numbers had to be a nuisance.
I ordered every Bloody Soldier to launch suicidal assaults.
We'll overwhelm it through sheer numbers!
The moment I renewed my resolve...
Suddenly...
Every one of our attacks ceased to have any effect whatsoever, and the overwhelming momentum we'd built vanished without a trace.
