Konbini Ossan Volume 12 Chapter 11 — The Summoned Ones
An astonishing truth had been revealed, but there were still more things I needed to ask.
“Then for my next question. About the phenomenon known as monster evolution.”
“You have already inferred the answer from what I have told you, have you not?”
The Dragon God answered my question with another question, and I nodded.
“Then let me rephrase it. The potential to ascend into godhood. That is what monster evolution truly is, correct?”
“Indeed. If ascension into godhood is considered the proper form of existence, then many of the monsters that remain in this age are manifestations of that potential in incomplete forms.”
In other words, monster evolution was the form taken by monsters that failed to fully ascend into godhood.
“Then do you know the conditions required to become a god?”
When I asked, the Dragon God paused briefly as though contemplating the matter before speaking.
“You should look upon my status.”
With that, the Dragon God revealed its status board.

My eyes were immediately drawn to the distinctive «ERROR» display.

“Why does Dragon God-sama’s status appear as ERROR?”
“Long ago, all of my attributes, from Strength to Speed, reached SSSSS. At that moment, the display changed into its current form.”
So one of the conditions for ascending into godhood was reaching all stats to SSSSS.
As for skills, while the exact condition remained unknown, it had at least been confirmed that they too became ERROR.
I see. Then it was only natural to assume that once everything became ERROR, one would ascend into godhood.
“Hero from another world. If you seek further knowledge, then follow the trail left behind by the Last Goddess, one who was summoned as a Hero before your generation.”
“The Last Goddess?”
“One of those summoned during the previous Hero summoning. That girl fought until the very end, and ultimately ascended into a goddess.”
(E/N: No way, right? Right?!)
I see. So by tracing the records of a Hero who had truly become a goddess, we might learn the conditions required to ascend into godhood.
And if we could learn those conditions, it might even become possible to prevent people who did not wish for it from becoming gods.
“I understand. Thank you very much, Dragon God-sama.”
“It has been long since I last held such a conversation. I too enjoyed this. You have my gratitude, Hero from another world.”
After speaking, the Dragon God shifted its gaze away from me and toward Shirley standing beside me.
“Now then, child of the village. There is something you wish to ask, is there not?”
At the Dragon God’s words, Shirley caught her breath.

While, in many novels, when the MC and his companions reach godhood, the story usually nears its end.
I love it when it happens and it usually ends in a happy ending. This series too has a few volumes left but let's enjoy it!
