Konbini Ossan Volume 10 Chapter 20 — Head-On Collision
At this point, I finally understood Naitō’s intention.
Why there were no traps in the capital, and why not a single resident remained.
It was all for this very moment… for him to fight Kanehama at full power. To prevent a situation where Kanehama would hold back out of concern for the lives of the citizens.
“Kanehamaaaa!”
“Naitoooooooo!”
Shouting each other’s names, Kanehama and Naitō clashed head-on.
Naitō swung his fist, and Kanehama met it with his sword.
Their attacks collided directly, generating a massive shockwave.
The castle crumbled further from the impact, and both of them were blown away by the recoil.
Naitō and Kanehama were sent flying in opposite directions, crashing down into the center of the capital’s cityscape.
Even so, considering their stats, it likely wasn’t significant damage.
The very next moment, from the direction Naitō had been blown away, a mass of battle-aura-attributed magic shot out like a bullet toward where Kanehama had landed.
The barrage of aura projectiles poured down like rain, and Kanehama countered them with flying slashes.
Their attacks crossed midair and exploded. The aftershock reduced the cityscape of the capital to rubble as easily as if it were a diorama.
Just as Naitō intended, with no civilians around, Kanehama was able to fight at full strength.
As the exchange of projectiles and flying slashes ended, Naitō burst through buildings in the city and charged straight at Kanehama.
“Try and take this!”
A punch carrying immense momentum. It glowed with dense magical power, clearly augmented by some kind of skill.
Kanehama blocked it with his sword.
“Guh…!”
“What’s wrong!?”
They were locked in a clash like a sword bind, but Naitō held a slight advantage.
This was it. If I were to step in, now was the moment.
“Kanehama-kun!”
I called out before making my move, signaling my intent. Kanehama would likely understand what I was about to do.
Up until now, I had used Naitō’s perception of me as insignificant to lull him into carelessness.
And now, with both of them locked in place, this was the perfect opportunity to exploit that opening.
I generated miasma and cursed sludge, unleashing them all at once toward Naitō.
Debuffs born from a principle different from magic rapidly reduced his stats.
“Wha-!?”
“Haaaaaaah!”
Naturally, the balance of their clash shifted. Affected by the debuffs, Naitō lost his footing, and Kanehama seized the moment to push him back.
Then, with a single slash, he sent Naitō flying.
The flying slash struck Naitō directly. He was blasted back all the way to the castle, crashing into its gates before coming to a stop.
As Kanehama and I rushed in for a follow-up, it was clear that Naitō had taken significant damage.
The debuffs likely still lingered as well.
At this rate, this battle should be ours.
