Soul Devourer Chapter 4 Episode 20 — The Dual Blades, Cleaving the Storm
With the sound of wind being torn apart above me, the Griffon dove straight down, cloaked in a raging tempest.
Spiral air currents wrapped around it, its beak spinning like a drill.
I crossed《Sea Dragon’s Naval Aglyphs》and received the Griffon’s strike. A sharp metallic screech echoed through the forest, and the ground beneath us collapsed inward.
The impact was powerful enough to crater the earth… yet I had taken it cleanly. Our gazes locked, and for the briefest instant, surprise flickered in the Griffon’s shiny eyes.
Its wings beat against the wind. The Griffon soared back into the sky, circling as if it ruled the storm itself. The next moment, it folded its wings, and plunged again.

Beak and dagger clashed once more, wind pressure making the trees groan. But this time, the ground did not give way.
The first strike had been reflex. This time, I had read its charge completely.
The Griffon ascended again.
Another straight dive? That won’t work twice.
But its next move defied my expectations. It did not rise high into the heavens, instead hovering at a moderate altitude.
Then it spread its wings wide, and released its feathers.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…! «Earth Wall»!”
I instantly erected an earthen barrier above me. Razor-sharp feathers pierced into it one after another, but none broke through.
All around, however, the ground was riddled with countless small holes.
“That’s some insane power…”
From behind the wall, I activated【Stealth】. Vanishing from sight, I shifted to a position where I could see the Griffon clearly.
Just as I began to cast a spell, a chill ran down my spine.
…Am I imagining it? No. It’s watching me. It's looking… directly at me-!?
Even though I was concealed, the Griffon’s gaze locked straight onto my position.

Before I could, the Griffon began flying in a circular path. As it spiraled, dragging the storm with it, the speed intensified, uprooting trees throughout the forest.
Before I knew it, a massive tornado had formed around me. My vision turned white and hazy, the wind devouring all sound.
The Griffon moved freely within the vortex, its form invisible.
Trap the prey within a prison of wind, then strike at a single opening at blinding speed; this must be the Griffon’s hunting method.
I tracked its movements with my detection skills.
“Here it comes! Behind-!”
The moment I turned, the Griffon’s beak was already before my eyes. For a split second, the world seemed to slow.
With the dagger in my right hand, I deflected the beak upward, redirecting its trajectory. Riding that momentum, I drove the dagger in my left hand beneath its jaw.
There was some resistance.
With a sharp screech, its body crashed into the ground. A shockwave burst outward, and the tornado scattered into nothingness.
