Konbini Ossan Volume 9 Chapter 4 — Toward the Great Forest Autonomous District
The day after the meeting.
After finishing the transfer of duties and preparing to join up with the Demon King’s Army, it was finally time to depart.
That said, organizing the employees from the defense division and bringing them along would take a bit more time.
For that matter, Joan remained behind as the representative of that division and would join us later.
The remaining four of us: myself, Yairo, Tio, and Tiana, would pass through the Great Forest Autonomous District under Ichiro Suzuki’s guidance and proceed ahead to the Demon King’s Castle to rendezvous.
“Now then, are your preparations complete?”
We all nod in response to Ichiro Suzuki’s question.
“Yes. By the way, how will we be traveling to the Demon King’s Castle?”
“I’ve heard that everyone here possesses quite high status, so I believe traveling there by dashing would be appropriate.”
“That’s fine on our end, but will you be alright, Ichiro Suzuki-san?”
“Yes. Even I have stats equivalent to an S-rank adventurer.”
In that case, running would likely be faster than using horses or any mediocre form of transport.
However, Otogi Trading Company happens to have a convenient vehicle.
“In that case, we can provide a useful vehicle.”
“Oh? And what might that be?”
“It’s called an Automobile.”
As I say this, an Automobile prepared by our employees is brought over.
It’s a custom vehicle used by Otogi Trading Company’s transportation division, capable of handling rough terrain with ease.
With a driver’s seat, passenger seat, and rear seats, it is built with high power so that it can tow a trailer carrying cargo containers.
Even someone at the level of an S-rank adventurer can travel at speeds equal to or greater than running. And it reduces our fatigue, making it doubly convenient.
“Let’s use this until we reach the area near the Great Forest Autonomous District. After that, it will depend on the condition of the roads. Well, we can decide once we get there.”
“That would help greatly. Thank you, Otogi-san.”
Even Ichiro Suzuki likely realized that running for days on end would be exhausting. He bows his head in gratitude.
“Alright then, please take your seats. I will take the driver’s seat.”
With that, the five of us climb into the automobile.
For some reason, however, Ichiro Suzuki ends up alone in the rear seat, while Yairo, Tio, and Tiana squeeze themselves between the passenger seat and the driver’s seat.
“Everyone.”
“What is it, Papa?”
“I want to sit next to Papa.”
“Um, Master. I would also like to sit beside you.”
Their desires were completely obvious.
At this rate, the trip would exhaust me before we even arrived.
“Switch with Ichiro Suzuki-san. The three of you will sit in the back seat, and Ichiro Suzuki-san will take the passenger seat.”
Only after I say this firmly do the three of them finally give up. They climb out of the vehicle and switch seats with Ichiro Suzuki-san.
Now at last I can sit in the driver’s seat in peace.
After I take my seat and everyone fastens their seatbelts for safety, everything is finally ready.
I start the engine.
“Alright then, let’s depart.”
With that, I press the accelerator and the automobile accelerates smoothly, leaving Otogi Trading Company behind.
By rough estimate, we should arrive at the nearest Otogi Trading Company-affiliated commercial facility near the Great Forest Autonomous District by tomorrow morning.
Once there, we will decide whether to leave the car or continue straight into the Great Forest Autonomous District.
