Konbini Ossan Volume 9 Chapter 14 — Combat-Type Homunculus

Thanks to the chaos spreading throughout the fortress, Yairo and I are able to carry out our actions smoothly.

We destroy not only the food stockpiled in the warehouses, but also large-scale weapons such as catapults as soon as we find them.

We also destroy facilities within the fortress, reducing its functionality as a stronghold.

In the end, it is the monsters living here who will rise up. If their daily lives become inconvenient, it will naturally delay their preparations for rebellion.

As Yairo and I continue our sabotage, we finally discover what appears to be a highly important facility.

It seems to be an underground installation within the fortress, likely Metidoban’s laboratory. Countless homunculi line the walls, displayed in rows.

“Let’s destroy this place as well. Reducing Metidovan’s forces would be a great advantage.”

“Understood, Master.”

“You will do no such thing!”

A voice suddenly cuts into our conversation.

Looking toward the source, we see one of the homunculi begin to move.

“I did not expect you to infiltrate the fortress so quickly, but my masterpiece, this combat-specialized homunculus, will eliminate you here!”

The homunculus, possessing a body that can no longer be called goblin-like, speaks in Metidovan’s voice.

Not only are its muscles grotesquely overdeveloped, but its skeletal structure also appears thick and reinforced.

Its arms and legs are massive, while its torso is comparatively small, giving it an unsettling proportion.

Since it is described as combat-specialized, it is likely far more powerful than the homunculi we fought earlier.

“Master, please allow me to handle this.”

Yairo shows her eagerness, so I nod and grant permission.

“I’m going in!”

Activating «Super Acceleration», Yairo springs into action. She moves into the homunculus’s blind spot and thrusts her dagger-type magic saber into its back.

“That won’t work!”

As expected, its body is extremely tough, and the blade only pierces shallowly.

Even so, Yairo remains calm. She deflects the homunculus’s counterattack and, just like before, executes a throw enhanced with «Super Acceleration».

The homunculus is slammed violently into the wall.

“I did it!”

Yairo lets out a voice of excitement, but this is a bit dangerous. She’s letting her guard down.

“That won’t work either!”

The homunculus emerges from the cloud of dust, seemingly having taken almost no damage.

Caught off guard by its sudden movement, Yairo is momentarily stunned, leaving an opening.

I activate my skill to protect her. I generate miasma and cursed sludge, forming a wall to block the homunculus’s attack.

Dark matter bursts forth from the cursed sludge, successfully intercepting the homunculus’s incoming punch.

“Guh!”

Upon contact with the dark matter, a curse spreads over the homunculus’s fist, causing its skin to crumble away.

However, it seems to possess high regenerative ability, as its fist rapidly returns to normal. Clearly, this level of damage is insufficient.

“Are you alright, Yairo?”

“I’m sorry, Master. I let my guard down.”

“Don’t worry about it. As long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters.”

Though reflecting on her mistake, Yairo has not lost her fighting spirit. After apologizing to me, she once again faces the homunculus, ready for battle.

For now, I’ll let her handle this a bit longer.

E/N:

It's amazing that Metidovan, despite being a goblin, has the technology to make so many types of homunculi. Maybe, he's as much of a genius as Shuri-kun?

Stay tuned!
