Konbini Ossan Volume 9 Chapter 13 — Sabotage Operation Commences
The day after arriving at the Demon King’s Castle, we immediately set out for the rebel-occupied fortress to carry out the sabotage operation.
We traveled together with Vladgaria’s diversionary force partway, and once the fortress came into view, our sabotage team: myself, Yairo, Tiana, and Tio, split off.
We entered the Great Forest Autonomous District to conceal ourselves, circled around, and moved toward the opposite side from the diversionary force.
Once we reached our positions, I took out a communication device. It was a short-range magical communicator, similar in concept to a radio.
“Vladgaria, can you hear me?”
「Yes, I can hear you.」
“We are in position. You may begin the operation at any time.”
Vladgaria’s voice comes through the communicator, slightly distorted.
「Then, we begin!」
After hearing her voice, I end the transmission.
Immediately after, just as planned, a grand spell is unleashed.
A powerful dark magic is fired into the sky. Darkness spreads across the surrounding area, blotting out even the sun and plunging everything into a night-like gloom.
Then, with a thunderous roar, the spell detonates high above.
The plan was to use overwhelming magic as a show of force.
Even so, the spell Vladgaria used is incredibly intense.
Perhaps because of that, the rebel forces begin preparing for battle, wary of further magical attacks.
Using binoculars, we carefully observe their movements, and as expected, they are concentrating their forces heavily toward the direction of the diversionary army.
Well, after witnessing that kind of magic, such a reaction is only natural.
“It seems defenses on this side are quite thin. Let’s proceed with the operation quickly.”
When I call out to the three of them, they all nod.
We move immediately. First, we equip one of the prepared items, a cloak with stealth camouflage functionality.
Rather than completely blending into the surroundings, it refracts light to conceal the wearer, causing the surrounding scenery to appear blurred and distorted.
The inside of the cloak becomes completely invisible, but since the surrounding scenery appears warped, it is not perfect stealth.
Still, for this operation, it is more than sufficient.
We move swiftly, relying on our stats, while hiding behind rocks and vegetation. Already blurred into the environment, and moving at such high speeds, it would be extremely difficult to visually detect us.
Thus, we reach the fortress wall. Tiana and Tio move first.
They run straight up the vertical wall and reach the top in an instant.
There were several monsters acting as sentries, but they had no time to react. The two strike in an instant, knocking all of them unconscious.
From there, the two infiltrate the fortress and begin causing havoc.
In other words, they act as both saboteurs and a second diversion.
Tiana and Tio will rampage through the interior of the fortress, destroying what they can and spreading chaos, before withdrawing at an appropriate point.
Once the commotion begins to escalate, it is finally time for Yairo and me to act.
“Alright, let’s go, Yairo.”
“Yes, Master.”
Yairo and I are the main saboteurs. We infiltrate from here and search the now lightly defended fortress, focusing on destroying key supplies and resources.
With this three-layered sabotage operation that leaves no openings, we will cut down the rebels’ momentum as much as possible.
