Konbini Ossan Volume 8 Chapter 17 — The Victory Seized
The greatsword cleaves through Satira’s magic, cutting it apart and blowing it away.
The swirling flame magic that had gathered around it is released, surrounding Satira.
“Damn it, this is—!”
The vortex of flames does more than inflict heat damage. It binds Satira, restricting her movements.
Her ultimate technique has been shattered, and now she is restrained. Joan closes in.
“I won’t lose!”
“That future will never come!”
Struggling, Satira unleashes her dark magic all at once.
From her black wings, magical power seeps out like writhing tentacles, intercepting Joan’s greatsword.
One greatsword against two tendrils. At the very end, it appears as though Joanne cannot quite press the attack through.
However—
“Even so, I’ll seize victory with these hands!”
Joan refuses to give up and releases the true ability of her crimson magic sword.
“Here I go! «Purge»!”
The moment she declares it, the magic sword shines, and from the points where the light bursts forth, it disassembles, splitting into five blades of varying sizes.
“What?!”
Satira’s shock is understandable. This separation function is the greatest gimmick of Joan’s greatsword.
The crimson greatsword was, in truth, the combined form of five magic swords created by gathering the full extent of Otogi Trading’s technological prowess.
This magic sword, which I named the “Machina Blade”, has two modes.
When fused as one, it operates in Combined Mode, manifesting all the effects of the five magic swords at once.
However, because it is in a unified state, those effects are distributed and averaged across the whole, making each individual effect weaker than when a single blade is used alone.
By chanting the keyword «Purge» and channeling magic, it separates into five magic swords. In this state, called Dispersed Mode, each blade’s individual effect is heightened to its maximum.
The first magic sword is “Arondight”.

It serves as the base of Combined Mode and can be considered the core of the greatsword.
Its effects focus primarily on reinforcing it's own durability, such as granting «Destruction Resistance».
It remains in Joanne’s hand even now, colliding with the two tendrils without so much as creaking, the hardest blade of the five.
Joan appears to be using Arondight as a decoy. Once the tendrils firmly entangle and bind the blade, she releases it without hesitation and moves to grasp the next swords.
“I’m going on the offensive!”
The next blades Joan takes are the second and third magic swords, “Windmill”.
Shaped like broad, single-edged short swords, these two connect to form one single magic sword.
Their effect specializes in enhancing the wielder’s physical abilities and increasing the speed of sword strikes.
Gripping the two Windmill blades, Joan closes in on Satira at a speed too fast for the eye to follow, instantly unleashing a flurry of consecutive attacks.
“Guh!”
Satira hastily crosses her arms, reinforcing her guard with dark gauntlets. But Joan seems to have anticipated this as well, switching blades once more.
“«Shatter»!”
Next, she grasps the fourth magic sword. A thick, wide, single-edged blade resembling an axe, its name is “Buster Blade”.
It is imbued with effects specialized for destructive power, boasting the greatest raw attack strength among the five magic swords.
Joan brings Buster Blade down with force, smashing through Satira’s defense by sheer strength.
The dark gauntlets fail to withstand the impact and shatter, and Satira herself is blown away by the shock.
“Gah!”
Seizing the moment of stagger caused by the heavy blow, Joan switches to the final blade for her finishing strike.
“This ends it!”
The fifth magic sword is “Flamberge”.
Though it appears to be an ordinary longsword, its effect is unique. In proportion to the magic poured into it, it freely generates flame magic, amplifying its power.
Named after the wavering flames it produces, this blade, when infused with magic, exhibits the greatest destructive power of all five magic swords.
With Flamberge in hand, Joan channels magic into it and, wreathed in flickering flames, brings it down in a mighty arc.
“Gwaaaah!”
Struck by Joan’s ultimate and most powerful blow, Satira screams. Though she dismisses the dark tendrils to focus on defense, even that is shattered, and Joan’s flames deal their damage.
When the blaze finally subsides, Satira lies on the ground, defeated.
“The match is decided! The winner is Joan-san!”
There can be no objections. I declare Joan’s victory.
“It’s… my win!”
Having seized victory with her own hands, Joan declares it with satisfaction.
Then, as if having exhausted all her strength, she collapses on the spot.
