Konbini Ossan Volume 7 Chapter 27 — The Problem Child, Suzuno Misa
The girl whom Matsuriya called Suzuno and Arisa called Misa seemed to notice the voice. She turned toward Arisa with a surprised expression.
“Huh? Arisa? Long time no see.”
“Yeah. It’s been a while, Misa.”
Suzuno reacted as if she had just reunited with an old friend. In contrast, Arisa looked somewhat awkward.
Reading the room, I decided to step into the conversation.
“Suzuno-san, was it? You’ve already heard the situation from Matsuriya-kun, correct?”
“Huh? What’s with this old guy. Who’re ya?”
“Are you an idiot?! This man is Otsugi-san, our employer!”
“Ohhh~, got it.”
Scolded sharply by Matsuriya, Suzuno nodded as if she understood. Even so, she made no effort to correct her lethargic attitude.
“So then, this old guy’s gonna hire me?”
“That’s right. So watch your attitude, Suzuno!”
“Haah? I don’t know anything about that. Huh, shut up already, you freaky okama.”
(E/N: [お釜] or Okama is a Japanese slang term primarily used to refer to an effeminate gay man, a male transvestite, or a transgender woman.
It literally means a cooking pot and originates from the Edo period as slang referring to a man who is a recipient of @n@l s*x. Apparently, the shape of a pot and buttocks were compared! 🤣
In modern, mainstream Japanese, it is generally considered a derogatory slur (similar to "f@g" or "tr@nny" in English). Just FYI!)
While hurling insults at Matsuriya, Suzuno walked over toward me.
When she came right up beside me, she took action.
“Well then, nice workin’ with ya.”
Suzuno grinned broadly. At that moment, she appeared to activate some kind of skill.
I felt magical power flowing toward me. It entered my body, attempting to exert some unpleasant effect, so I raised my own magic power and resisted.
The magic she sent dissipated like mist and vanished.
“Well then, old guy. I’ll leave the rest to you~”
“What do you mean by that? More importantly, what did you just do?”
When I spoke calmly, as if nothing had happened, Suzuno looked startled.
“Huh, seriously? You resisted that? What a pain.”
“Suzuno! Did you just use a skill?!”
“So what if I did? That’s my business, isn’t it?”
“I told you not to do that!”
“I don’t quite follow. Matsuriya, could you explain what’s going on?”
As Matsuriya argued with Suzuno, I asked him for an explanation.
He regained his composure, took a breath, and then spoke.
“My apologies, Otsugi-san. I lost my calm for a moment. Allow me to explain how Suzuno Misa ended up here.”
What Matsuriya explained next was something I never would have anticipated.
To begin with, this girl, Suzuno Misa, had until recently been acting as a private hero under the employ of a certain noble.
The cheat skill granted to her by the goddess was «Charm Magic». A magic that dominates and brainwashes members of the opposite sex through the power of enchantment, bending them to her will.
However, this «Charm Magic» was extremely difficult to use effectively. There were ordinary cases where it simply would not work.
One was, against those with greater magic power than herself. In other words, she generally could not dominate opponents stronger than her.
Likewise, anyone possessing a skill that granted resistance to mental contamination could not be controlled.
That said, there were exceptions depending on the situation.
Specifically, when «Charm Magic» was used alongside sexual physical contact such as intercourse or kissing.
By engaging in prolonged and intense sexual contact, it became possible to dominate targets while ignoring differences in magic power or resistance.
The longer and more intense the contact, the stronger the control became.
Exploiting this trait, Suzuno had worked under a certain noble as a hospitality provider.
Thanks to that, the noble was able to conveniently dominate influential figures from numerous merchant guilds and rapidly expand his power.
However, Suzuno went too far.
She used the power gained through domination purely for her own selfish desires, indulging herself without restraint.
In the end, the losses were judged to be far too great, and she was cast aside. After that, she was once again placed under the custody of the royal palace.
While living in what was effectively a state of house arrest within the palace, Matsuriya considered whether she could be brought into our faction and approached her.
Suzuno responded to that offer and came here.
What followed was exactly what had just happened.
Suzuno’s true intention had been to dominate me with «Charm Magic» and then squander my assets however she pleased.
