Six more months passed after the completion of the Magitek Carriage and the start of its sales.
The factory land we had once received from the state had already become too cramped, so we purchased additional land and even established a factory dedicated exclusively to Magitek Carriage.
With the introduction of large numbers of Magitek Carriage for cargo transport, logistics efficiency improved dramatically.
As a result, my magic tool shop was able to rapidly expand, opening branch after branch in cities far from the royal capital.
In just half a year, the business grew so quickly that it became difficult for me to personally manage and keep track of everything.
I no longer had the leeway to be directly involved in either the factories or the magic tool shops.
Adding the oversight of distant branch locations on top of that clearly exceeded my capacity.
For these reasons, I made a certain decision.
That decision was to turn the business into a group of subsidiaries.
For example, the factories and the magic tool shops would each be owned by separate subsidiaries.
Each subsidiary would have its own representative managing operations, and only their reports would be sent up to me.
By streamlining management in this way, it would become possible to both oversee the entire enterprise and continue expanding it further.
Along with that, I also established a parent company to oversee all the subsidiaries; a holding company with myself as its representative.
I named it Otogi Trading Co.. It was simple, but clarity is important when it comes to names like this.
The factory side became a subsidiary called Otogi Magi-Industries, while the magic tool shops were organized under Otogi Commerce.
I entrusted the management of Otogi Industries to Shirley, and the magic tool shops to Maria.
As for the main branch of the magic tool shop, which no longer had a store manager, I appointed Tiana-chan and Tio-kun as managers.
That said, the actual day-to-day management would still be handled by the experienced staff who had long worked at the shop.
Since the two wanted to continue their activities as adventurers, they would mainly serve as the public faces of the main branch.
However, as they also expressed an interest in learning business management, they would gain some hands-on experience with shop operations as well.
In addition, the transportation business using Magitek Carriage, as well as a security company, were also made into subsidiaries.
The children from the orphanage had grown considerably by now; many had grown taller and become capable young men.
While we also employed retired adventurers and former members of the knight order, I intended for the core members to be composed primarily of those who grew up in the orphanage.
This subsidiary was named Otogi Transport.
I planned to appoint Joan-kun as its president, and to bring in several adults from the main magic tool shop to support him on the management side.
However, a problem arose at this point.
For some reason, I could not get in contact with Joan-kun.
Apparently, he had taken a long vacation recently and gone somewhere, and no one had seen him since.
While it would be possible to speak with him after his leave ended, matters like this are better handled sooner rather than later.
If it wouldn’t inconvenience him, I wanted to go and explain things in person as well.
With that in mind, I began asking around to find out where Joan-kun had gone.
According to the children at the orphanage, he had recently grown quite close to Matsuriya Yūki-kun and had been spending a lot of time with him.
If that was the case, Matsuriya-kun might know exactly where Joan-kun had headed.
Additionally, I also had various matters to attend to involving the summoned heroes belonging to the Kanehama group.
In any case, I had been thinking that it was about time to visit the royal palace again.
For those reasons, I headed to the royal palace, intending first to pay a visit to Matsuriya-kun.
