Konbini Ossan Volume 7 Chapter 12 — Magic Conduction Circuits

The day after entrusting Shuri-kun with the verification experiments for Mana Dynamics, I decided to move ahead with work that could be done in advance, in preparation for the experiments succeeding.

That work was the most important part of the plan going forward; something I named the Magic Conduction Circuit.

The idea behind this Magic Conduction Circuit was to recreate something like electronic circuits on Earth, using magic particles and magical power instead.

If the invention of magic conduction circuits succeeded, the technological level would rise dramatically.

Up until now, the machines used in my workshop were, so to speak, nothing more than mechanisms made entirely from combinations of gears.

Even so, they were cutting-edge by this world’s standards, but compared to Earth’s technology, they inevitably felt lacking.

So the goal was to develop something that could serve as a substitute for electronic circuits.

If that were possible, it should also become feasible to build machines with advanced functions equivalent to Earth’s digital circuits.

To put it more simply, I wanted to develop a device that could be called a Magi Computer, a computer that uses magic particles instead of electrons.

To achieve that, the first step was to imitate and reproduce Earth’s analog circuits using magic particles and magical power.

At present, research on magic particles was in a waiting state until Shuri-kun’s verification experiments were complete.

However, at least the rough outline of how such circuits should be designed could be worked out even at this stage.

So, before the verification experiments for Mana Dynamics were finished, I began designing magic conduction circuits.

In the process of reproduction, it was clear that the gap between what could be easily recreated and what could not would be enormous.

For example, the conductive wiring used in circuits could likely be reproduced without any particularly difficult ingenuity.

On the other hand, because magical power lacks properties comparable to electromagnetism, things like coils could not be created.

As a result, circuits that rely on coils would also be difficult to reproduce.

That said, the differences between magical power and electromagnetism could sometimes work to our advantage.

For instance, creating diodes was easy. Unlike electronic diodes, magic particles inherently have materials with directional resistance.

In electronics, diodes use the properties of semiconductors to allow current to flow only in one direction. With magic particles, materials that naturally possess this property already exist.

However, these mana diodes, that is, Magi Diodes, differ from electronic diodes in that they do not possess properties such as voltage control.

In technical terms, they do not have a breakdown voltage.

As a result, just like circuits that rely on coils, this aspect also needed to be reproduced through clever design.

Fortunately, what I was dealing with was not physics, but magic.

Even parts that were difficult to reproduce could largely be resolved by making use of magic circles.

In this way, by working with magic particles, magical power, and the properties unique to the materials of this world, I continued advancing the design of magic conduction circuits.

While I was progressing with this work, I received word from Shuri-kun.

The verification experiments for Mana Dynamics had been completed successfully. It was confirmed that Mana Dynamics was a correct theory.

In addition, he also sent over a wide range of data that had been obtained through the experiments.

With this, full-scale design and development of Magic Conduction Circuits could finally begin.

“Good for you, Yuichi.”

As I was reading through the materials Shuri-kun had sent, Arisa spoke up to me.

“Yeah. Now I can finally get started on developing magic conduction circuits.”

“Mm. Do your best. What I want to do can’t really move forward until that development’s done, either.”

Saying that, Arisa handed me some tea she had prepared at some point without my noticing.

“But still, you should probably take a break. You’ve been staring at those documents nonstop since they arrived yesterday.”

“You’re right. It’s about time to take a breather.”

Taking Arisa’s suggestion, I set the materials aside for now, and enjoyed the tea and light snacks she had prepared.

E/N:

Wow, the author's world building is damn good, how long would it have taken to plan all this?

Magitronics are going to be nuts! What next? Transformers?! 😂

Stay tuned!
