Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 70 — A Fierce Battle with the Heavenly Sovereign

I charged forward hard, making myself the perfect target. Ten Flame Wyverns all spewed fire breath at once.


“Tch!”


I kicked off the ground and leapt back, and the Fire Dragon opened its massive jaws, gathering scorching flames inside its mouth.

The flames quickly shifted to a blue hue. As the dragon unleashed that stored torrent, I activated Water Magic at the same time.


“«Spiral Water»”


A spiraling torrent of water collided mid-air with the falling meteor of blue flame — but the massive quantity of water evaporated instantly, and the blue flames came rushing straight at me.

I dodged by instinct. The blast bored a deep gouge into the ground, leaving melted rock simmering in its wake.


“If I remember right… blue flame is the hottest tier. Water Magic does nothing. That can only be dodged.”


I took a deep breath and used more magic than usual to generate a massive spear of stone.

Drawing my arm back, using my heightened strength to its fullest, I hurled it at the dragon.

The spear screamed through the air, but a Flame Wyvern threw itself in the way, becoming a living shield and letting the dragon avoid it.


“A single shot won’t do it, huh. Then next… I go with volume. And I’ll use my strongest Magic — Fire Magic, obviously.”


I shouted «Flame Swords» and poured magic into manifesting a swarm of blades of flame behind me.

Each one was strengthened by【Fire Magic Enhancement】, giving them nearly double their usual destructive power.

I thrust my hand forward, and the swords streaked toward the dragon together. The dragon, not to be outdone, conjured the same number of swords — all burning blue.

The two barrages met midway and erupted into a massive stalemate.

“That blue flame is basically cheating… Water and Earth Magic are worthless against it. But maybe Wind Magic can nudge it around…?”


I couldn’t snuff it out, but maybe I could redirect it. Might as well try.

While I was thinking, the wyverns circled above and one dropped into a solo charge.

　
With【Ki Surge】hardening my muscles and【Kigong Arts】reinforcing my body, I slammed my fist straight into its nose.

The wyvern’s head vanished, erased completely.


“On the way here, I slaughtered your friends by the dozens. At this point, you’re all just trash mobs to me!”


The remaining wyverns either didn’t understand or didn’t care, and kept charging recklessly. When only five were left, their sudden suicidally bad attacks abruptly stopped.


“Hmm?”


A shadow fell. Looking up, a gigantic sun of blazing blue flame was dropping toward me.


“That’s bad…”


I moved to dodge, but flame-chains erupted from the ground and wrapped around my wrists and ankles.


“Damn it…!”


I strengthened myself with【Physical Boost】,【Ki Surge】, and【Kigong Arts】, then stomped the ground.

The ground cracked apart and I tore free, dragging the piece I stood on as I sprinted away.

Looking back after gaining distance, the massive sun crashed down, shaking the earth with a wave of heat and smoke.


“That was close… alright then—”


The chains vanished, and I cracked my neck and knuckles. Time to reset the field. First, I wiped out the remaining small fry with Wind Magic.


“«Wind Slash»”


The oversized blade of compressed wind ripped the remaining wyverns apart with ease.

As their bodies fell, I fixed my eyes on the dragon. Blue flame was already gathering in its throat. It would fire in seconds.

Even so, I raised an earthen pillar with Earth Magic, using it as a cover for a covert strike.

Just before the blue breath launched, I activated【Stealth】and leapt high into the air.

The moment the dragon noticed me, I landed on its snout and drove both daggers into its eyes.


“GRAAAAAAAH!”


Its shriek ripped at my eardrums as it thrashed wildly and rampaged through the air.

I didn’t follow up. I just watched.

Gradually its motions slowed, then finally its enormous body crashed to the ground.


“My《Death Venom Fangs of the Centipede King》can kill instantly by paralysis… yet, a dragon won’t go down in one hit, huh…”
