Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 67 — Battle with the Predator of the Skies

The Flame Wyvern that had locked eyes with me climbed higher, then dove straight down toward the ground. It skimmed low and shot toward me with terrifying speed.

I crossed my short swords and stopped its fighter-jet-like charge. The impact shoved me back several dozen meters, but I held my ground.

The wyvern suddenly opened its enormous jaws. Countless orbs of light flickered inside like sparks, swirling fire condensed into a vortex, and then it blasted the flames forward.

I rolled across the ground to evade. The wyvern beat its massive wings and climbed skyward again.


“That flame breath was insane…”


The heat brushing my skin made my instincts scream at me to dodge. Even with【Fire Magic Resistance】, I hadn’t felt any reduction in the heat.


“…Maybe that wasn’t magic at all.”


If so, it made sense my resistance didn’t help.

The wyvern hovered above, glaring down, and conjured a ring of fireballs around itself before unleashing a Fire Rain.


“«Water Wall»”


A towering wall of water erupted before me, blocking the rain of flames with ease. A huge spear of fire followed right after, but the water barrier swallowed that too.

Then I felt mana gathering beneath my feet. A pillar of fire erupted upward. I leapt back in the nick of time, only for a blazing miniature sun to descend toward me from overhead.


“«Spiral Water»”


I thrust both hands forward, unleashing a spiraling torrent. The pillar of water swallowed the burning sun and snuffed it out.

Realizing its fire tricks weren’t working, the wyvern beat its wings hard, spun its body like a drill, and dove.


“Gh—!”


I caught the blow with my short swords, but the impact carved a massive crater beneath me. The wyvern tried to unleash another flame breath—


“Take this!”


I forced its massive head up and shoved it back. A cross-shaped wound split across its snout as it staggered and flapped wildly.


“At that height, I can reach you!”


I vanished with【Stealth】and launched myself upward. The wyvern sensed me and tried to fire its breath, but as we crossed paths midair, I took its head clean off.
