“If you don’t get stronger, Yuichi, and you end up dying because of some stupid accident, leaving me all alone — how is that supposed to be happiness?!

Don’t mess with me! Weren’t you going to make me happy?! Didn’t we say we’d work hard together, the two of us, so that wouldn’t happen?!”
As she blamed me one-sidedly, my way of thinking gradually began to change.
Maybe I was about to make the same mistake again.
Not wanting to involve Arisa, not wanting to sacrifice her — that was nothing more than my own self-centered reasoning.
What mattered most to Arisa wasn’t a life without risk. It was that she and I would combine our strength and strive to be happy together.
That kind of future — like running side by side — was what Arisa truly wanted.
And yet I was about to crush that wish with my selfish excuse of not wanting to involve her.
Nothing had changed at all.
From the time I hurt Arisa, choosing only the options that satisfied me and running away — nothing had changed.
“Arisa. Are you really sure?”
I asked her again, testing her resolve.
“Of course I am. You’ll protect me properly, Yūichi, and my skill will protect you. That way, the two of us can definitely be happier.

Let’s believe in that and work together. If you can’t even believe that, then we can’t be husband and wife.”
“I see… Yeah. You might be right.”
Her words steeled my resolve as well.
From now on, I would search for a path where the two of us could be happy together. Even if it meant possibly hurting the person most important to me.
Rather than looking away, I wanted to accept that possibility and do everything I could to prevent it.
“All right. Let’s do it — skill sharing.”
“Yeah!”
I pulled Arisa close from the shoulder, and she leaned her weight into me.
Feeling each other’s warmth helped calm us down. The discussion had gotten a bit heated, after all.
After holding Arisa for a while, my heart gradually settled.
My head started working calmly again, and I decided it was finally time to begin drawing the magic circle for skill sharing.
“All right, Arisa. Let’s get ready.”
“Okay. Where are you going to draw the magic circle?”
“This magic circle works by drawing the same circle in the same place on both our bodies. So I think the abdomen is best.”
“I see. Then, Yuichi, go ahead.”
Without a hint of hesitation, Arisa lifted her clothes and exposed her stomach.
My heart skipped a beat, but I quickly pulled myself together and spoke.
“No, I haven’t prepared the paint or anything yet, so wait a moment.”
“O-oh, right. I got ahead of myself!”

Arisa hurriedly fixed her clothes.
After that, I brought out the tools I usually use to draw magic circles, and we faced each other again.
“All right, Arisa. Show me your stomach.”
“Okay. Here you go.”
Just like before, Arisa lifted her clothes and showed me her abdomen. Faint swimsuit tan lines peeked out around her waist, and my gaze was drawn to them despite myself.
But now was the time to focus. Carefully, I began drawing the magic circle on Arisa’s stomach with the brush.
“Mmm~❤️ Yūichi! That tickles!”
“Sorry, Arisa. Bear with it a little.”
“O-okay, but hurry up, all right?”
Her face flushed as she endured the sensation of the brush moving. Still, rushing and making a mistake would ruin everything.
I continued drawing carefully.
“Ahn~❤️ Ngh! Hey, Yūichi! You’re doing that on purpose, aren’t you?! Eep~!”
I absolutely wasn’t doing it on purpose.
For now, I focused entirely on drawing the magic circle correctly.
