Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 25 — The Worried Father and Mother

After defeating the Kobold King, I obtained a short sword from the treasure chest that appeared.

I returned to the surface using the magic circle and requested an appraisal.


“This is the《Kobold King’s Short Sword》. The first effect increases damage dealt with short swords by 30%. The second effect increases Agility and Dexterity by +30.”


“Thank you.”


I received my reward after deducting the appraisal fee and headed home.


“Now then, which one should I make my main weapon?”


Right now, I have two weapons — the《Goblin King’s Greatsword》and the《Kobold King’s Short Sword》. Their performance is almost identical, with the only difference being which stats they boost.

My fighting style mainly relies on【Presence Concealment】,【Mana Concealment】, and【Stealth】to completely erase my existence and strike by surprise.

So, what matters most is how quickly I can close the distance to my target.

The greatsword is excellent for delivering powerful single blows due to its weight, but it slows my movements and makes my swings wide.

The short sword, though weaker in single-hit power compared to the greatsword, doesn’t hinder my speed and allows for minimal motion.

Both have their pros and cons, but given my current style, the short sword suits me better.

My Strength stat is already high, so boosting Agility will balance things out. From now on, I’ll fight with the short sword.


“I’m home!”


“Welcome back.”


After washing off the sweat in the bath and sitting down for dinner, I told my parents about what happened today.


“Today, I got scouted by someone from the most famous clan in the country.”


“Oh my! That’s amazing!”


“That’s something to be proud of. So, what did you decide?”


“In short, I’m not joining the clan, but I’ll be signing a contract as a collaborator.”


“A collaborator?”


“Yeah. When the clan runs into trouble, they can call me in for help. Whether I accept the request or not is up to me, so I can always decline.”

“You’re our pride, son. It’s an honor to be noticed like that. Keep doing your best.”


“Yeah.”


“By the way, how’s the dungeon progress going?”


“Smoothly. I’m challenging C-rank dungeons right now and I’ve already cleared three.”


“I see. Still doing it solo?”


“Yeah.”


“…To be honest, your mother and I worry about you.”


“Worry?”


“There was another news story recently about a hunter committing a crime, and we keep hearing how dangerous dungeons can be.”


…No way I can tell them I’ve already killed someone.


“Of course, if soloing ever gets too risky, I’ll consider joining a party. So don’t worry.”


“All right, understood.”


After finishing dinner, I went to my room. Before going to sleep, I spent some skill points to raise the level of【Subterfuge】.
