Konbini Ossan Volume 1 Chapter 32 – Arisa and the Potion Geezer
Having successfully completed her registration as an adventurer, Arisa stepped away from the reception.
Without delay, she headed toward the bulletin board where request slips were posted and began scrutinizing the requests.
“What the heck, this makes no sense.”
She seemed rather confused.
“There’s no way I can figure out how to do any of this.”
She was muttering in a faint, weak voice.
Apparently, she doesn’t even know how to complete a request, and so she can’t even pick one. That’s understandable.
Even the simplest standing request involves gathering materials outside the capital.
That’s not a job a child, from another world with no knowledge of the terrain, can handle.
And adventurers aren’t errand runners. There are some odd jobs and requests like helping with residents’ problems, but those are rare.
And even if they do exist, rookie adventurers snatch them up early on. At this hour, they’d already be gone.
In short, there are no requests that a girl could safely complete within the city.
Arisa wandered back and forth, clearly lost in front of the request board.
Just then, three male adventurers approached her.
Are they trying to be helpful?
“Hey there, little missy. You look like you’re having some trouble.”
“Huh? What the hell do you want? It’s none of your business.”
“Now, now, don’t be like that. Look, I’m telling you this for your own good. No need to mess around with dirty work like this.

A girl with a face like yours can get easier jobs, you know?”
“Shut the hell up! I already get it, alright?! That’s exactly why I chose to become an adventurer, dumbass!”
“Heh, that defiant attitude won’t last long.”
With that, the men began to surround Arisa. Even though this is inside the guild facility, the people here are basically rough types.
This kind of trouble is an everyday occurrence, and the guild doesn’t intervene.
In other words, if nothing is done, Arisa is about to become a plaything for these men.
There’s no way I can sit by and watch my cute niece go through something like that.
I stood up from the sofa and approached Arisa and the men.
“What’s going on here?”, I spoke up.
“Ugh, it’s the Potion Geezer!”
One of the men reacted. By the way, "Potion Geezer" has becom my nickname recently, instead of "Herb Uncle".
“Tch, what’s your problem, old man?! You wanna go or what?!”
Arisa immediately got combative. Seems like she doesn’t like me much.
“This girl here happens to be an acquaintance of mine. Are you still planning to invite her out?”
For now, I put Arisa’s attitude aside. I addressed the three male adventurers and glanced at each of their faces in turn.
“Look, we’re not stupid enough to mess with someone you know.”
“Our bad, old man.”
“Che!”
As soon as I butted in, the men backed off.
This wasn’t due to my own pressure alone. I’m connected and friendly with veteran adventurers at the C-rank level.
Thugs like these at E or D-rank aren’t foolish enough to pick a fight with someone like me.
Arisa-san watched in surprise as the men backed away. Then, quickly regaining her composure, she faced me.
“Thanks. You saved me, old man.”
“Not at all, it’s not like we’re unrelated.”
I smiled at her as I spoke. I’m not confident in my looks, so I hope it came across as a proper smile.
Though that probably didn’t matter much to Arisa-san.
“But listen, old man. Just because you saved me doesn’t mean I’m gonna forgive you!”
Huh. Did I do something to make Arisa resent me?
“Did I do something to you?”
“Shut up! I got kicked out all because of you!”
With tears in her eyes, Arisa grabbed me by the collar.

In raws, "Potion Geezer" is actually "Kusuri Oji" or "Medicine Geezer" but first one sounds better.
