Soul Devourer Chapter 8 Episode 9 — Invitations From Two Women
During our 2nd run through the SS-Rank dungeon, Tensei Suzuki-san, Karen Miura-san, and Honoka Kikuchi-san reached Level 150.
To help them get accustomed to their bodies, which had suddenly grown much stronger, I had them fight the army of monsters created by Echidna.
I focused solely on support, using «Fire Javelin» to turn monsters that tried to exploit openings in Suzuki-san's defenses into charcoal, replenishing Miura-san and Kikuchi-san's Mana with【Mana Transfer】, and otherwise assisting them wherever necessary.
Thanks to that, all 3 had already begun adjusting to their new stats and had become capable of reliably winning one-on-one fights.
I decided they had reached a good stopping point and called for them to fall back.
Then I used【Nova Magic】integrated into【Axiom】and annihilated Echidna along with her army of monsters with «Explosion».
At long last, it was time to challenge the Dungeon Boss,〈Apophis King〉Typhon.
“…I'm still amazed by Hunter Matsubara's firepower. How can a single spell wipe out an entire army like that? And it looked like a spell I'd never seen before…”
“I'm curious about it too, but it might be something fundamental to Hunter Matsubara himself.

Even so, our levels, stats, and skill levels are all clearly higher than before, yet it doesn't feel like we've even slightly narrowed the gap between us and him.”
“You two are right. But I find it reassuring. The fact that he's in Japan means Japan is the safest country in the world, after all.”
I turned around toward the 3 of them, who had been talking amongst themselves behind me…
“All right, next up is the Dungeon Boss battle.”

A gigantic door appeared with a rumble, and the 100 meter long “natural disaster” with its 100 dragon heads emerged.
I initially had the 3 of them fight it, but as expected, they were forced onto the defensive because of【Anti-theosis】. Once their Divine Artifacts became useless, the 3 of them were practically out of the fight.
I had them retreat to the rear and took《Balmung》out of my《Magic Pouch》for the first time in a while.
I unleashed【Zero Sever • Oblivion Edge】 and【Slash Arts】integrated into【Skanda】, releasing a gigantic slash.
Combined with《Balmung》's unique property, "aiding in Dragon-species slaying", Typhon's enormous body was cleaved cleanly in 2, killing it in a single blow.
…Well, I wonder what the dungeon-clear reward will be?
An ornate treasure chest slowly emerged from a rift in space. When I opened the lid, mixed among the Boss materials such as magic stones and dragon scales… was a small glass vial filled with swaying, bright-red liquid.
I immediately activated【Appraisal】.

As expected of a reward from conquering an SS-Rank dungeon.
Its effects were on an entirely different level compared to the Boosted Potions I'd obtained before. There was no stat limit, and the increase was roughly twice as high.
However, my excitement quickly faded.
Against stats exceeding 2.3 million, an increase of only 150 was practically nothing.
It was a little, no, quite a bit underwhelming.
Well, I'm still going to drink it.
And with that, the conquest of the SS-Rank dungeon was complete… and so was the Soul's Oath I had made with the 3 of them.
We teleported to the surface using the return magic circle…
“That concludes your levelling. From here on, continue aiming higher through your own strength, and focus on developing your Clan members.”

“No, don't worry about it. There's only so much I can protect on my own, so having all of you around is more reassuring than anything. Well then, I'll be going-!”

Just as I was about to leave now that everything was settled, I was stopped by the Clanmaster of〈Ifrit Legion〉, Karen Miura-san.
“Is something wrong?”
“It's nothing important, but… how about we go out for a meal sometime? Just the two of us.”
“Eh?”
“Ah, um! Hunter Matsubara! I'd love to talk with you too… just the two of us.”
Oh-ho… An invitation from two beautiful women, one busty and the other even more so… has my time to shine finally arrived?!

Now that I'd fulfilled the Soul's Oath with the 3 of them, I planned to challenge the SS-Rank dungeons in China, India, and Russia next.
With my current strength, I didn't expect to have much trouble.
But what kind of skills would they possess, and what kind of fighting styles would they use… just imagining it was enough to make the corners of my mouth naturally curl upward.
