Konbini Ossan Volume 14 Chapter 4 — Otogi’s Dilemma

After the meeting ended, Arisa and I remained alone in the conference room to talk.

“Arisa. There’s something I want to discuss.”

“I know. It’s about the possibility of you becoming a god, right?”

I nodded at her question.

“My current status looks like this.”

To make it easier to understand, I displayed my status board for Arisa to see.

━━━━━━━━━━

Name: Yūichi Otogi

Level: 2697

StrengthSSSS+

Magic PowerSSSS+

VitalitySSSS+

SpeedSSSS+

Attribute: None

Skills: ERROR

━━━━━━━━━━

By the time I killed Naitō, my level had exceeded 2600, and my stats had reached SSSS+.

I had stopped leveling once the suspicion arose that something similar to monster evolution might occur, but even then, my level had risen a little after reaching SSSS+.

I had no idea how close SSSSS was, but it was safer to assume I didn’t have much time left.

“I’ve probably already fulfilled two of the conditions for becoming a god. One is Skill ERROR. The other is the growth in soul size that should have occurred when I killed Naitou and took his skills, his soul. And if I keep leveling without thinking...”

“Then your stats might become ERROR too, right?”

As she said that, Arisa suddenly hugged me.

“I don’t want you to disappear.”

“I know.”

Without saying anything more, we simply held each other.

As though trying to dissolve our anxiety, silently confirming each other’s presence.

Eventually, Arisa pulled away on her own, looking as though she had come to terms with something.

“Well, your level’s already absurdly high, Yūichi, so under normal circumstances it probably won’t go up much. And there aren’t many situations where you actually need to fight right now, right?”

“Yeah. Otogi Trading has its own forces, and I have allies too. It’s not like I’ll often be in situations where only I can fight.”

The moment I said that, Arisa flicked my forehead.

“Even if that happens, you’re not allowed to fight! Leave it to everyone else and sit there like the big boss!”

“Yeah... you’re right.”

I nodded, convinced by her words.

Even if a powerful enemy appeared in the future, I should avoid direct combat with everything I had.

But there was still one concern.

What if an enemy appeared that neither my allies nor Otogi Trading’s forces could handle?

For example, someone like Naitō. Or an even greater external threat.

What should I do then?

If letting it go meant exposing my precious family to danger...

What choice should I make when faced with that situation?

E/N:

Don't go around setting up flags like that! Ffs, we don't want you to go either, Ossan! You still have to be lovey-dovey with your wives and much more!

Stay tuned!
