Konbini Ossan Volume 13 Chapter 4 — Hero Avril
A few days later, Kinoshita-sensei informed me that she had finished the translation, so the two of us gathered in the conference room.
For now, I decided to privately review the translated contents by myself first.
“Thank you for the translation, Kinoshita-sensei.”
“Oh, it was nothing at all. Here, I’m returning this.”
As she said that, Kinoshita-sensei handed the Hero’s journal back to me.
I accepted it, placed it on the desk for the moment, and moved to the main topic.
“Now then, about the translation.”
“Yes. I’ve compiled it all here.”
Saying that, Kinoshita-sensei handed me several sheets of paper.
“The contents were a journal written by a certain Hero, from the time she was summoned up until she departed for her final battle. That Hero’s name was Avril McCartney. She was apparently a 14-year-old English-American girl.”
She had been summoned at an awfully young age.
The thought of a child that young being torn away from her parents was, as expected, cruel.
“The journal described in detail the children who were summoned as Heroes under those harsh circumstances and forced to fight.”
“I’ll read it carefully.”
Steeling myself, I lowered my eyes to the translated pages.

Another World, Day 1
Since I don’t know what’s going to happen from here, I’ll record things for now.
My name is Avril McCartney. 14 years old, and I looove Japanese anime and manga~!
I came to Japan on a trip, but I got caught up with some Japanese high school students who were here on something called a shuugaku-ryokou, and got summoned to another world!
(E/N: Shuugaku ryokou (修学旅行) is essentially school trip or educational excursion that students in Japan go on in the last year of their elementary, middle and high school.)
We got these powers called skills, and apparently we have to use them to fight something called the Demon King’s Army.
The country that summoned us is at war with the Demon King’s Army, and because they’re about to lose, they summoned Heroes.
If we don’t fight, the Demon King’s Army will attack us too.
So there’s really no option not to fight.
But everyone seems to hate being suddenly told to fight.
I got kind of excited because it felt like an anime plot.
I’ll fight the Demon King’s Army, win, go home, and brag to Mom and Dad!

Another World, Day 2
I talked with the other Heroes.
The ones summoned were high school students on their shuugaku-ryokou.
Apparently they were in the middle of free time, split into groups. Two groups of five, so ten in total. One girls’ group and one boys’ group, so there were five boys and five girls summoned.
The girls’ group apparently didn’t get amongst themselves very well, and two of them tried to go join up with the boys’ group.
The other three followed(chased lol) after the two who ran off on their own. In the boys’ group, only one boy was friendly with those two girls. The other four didn’t want the girls joining them, and it turned into an argument.
And then, right at that moment, they got summoned as Heroes.
A Japanese romcom?! It actually existed~!?
Maybe I just got dragged into it because I approached them thinking that?
But getting caught up in a summoning is classic protagonist material, so I’m probably the true Hero!
Anyway, after talking, I became friends with four of the Heroes.
One was Rihito, the most twisted of the boys.
But he’s an otaku, so we got really into talking about Na◯to!
His skill had something to do with appraisal, and he said fighting was impossible for him.
Honestly, he looks weaker than me, so maybe he really shouldn’t fight.
Next was Miyuki, whose hobby is illustration.
Her skill is «Illustration», which can make any magic she draws come true, so she’s super strong!
She even drew me a Dra◯on Ball illustration!
Then there’s Kaori, who can summon all kinds of things using magic power, thanks to her «Item Summoning» skill.
Apparently she can even summon manga!
But she doesn’t seem like the fighting type. She said she’d focus on rear support.
By the way, the notebook I’m writing this in was summoned by Kaori too.
It’s a low-quality notebook made of paper bound together with string, but apparently low-tech things like this are easy to summon.
I asked if there was something I could write in on the first day, and she gave me this.
Kaori’s a nice person for summoning it just for me!
Lastly, there’s Chisato, who has karate experience.
A user of Japanese Budō , and her skill is «Fist Emperor», which sounds insanely strong.
(E/N: Budō, a type of Japanese Martial Art, like Kendō, is taught in regards to cultivate a disciple's character, moral values as well as body conditioning, unlike Bujutsū, or equivalent Kenjutsū, taught for self-defense and offensive actions.)
She’s probably one of the strongest Heroes.
So I decided Chisato’s going to teach me karate!
After all, if I’m the true Hero, I’ve gotta get stronger!

E/N:
We got a Japanophile, probably blonde, English-woman, also probably a Fujōshi, who thinks she's the MC 😂
And, guess what, we all probably know this woman from before in this very series 🤣 I won't spoil more!
Stay tuned!
