Konbini Ossan Volume 11 Chapter 6 — Results of the Autopsy
The next day, after receiving the message, I contacted Shuri-kun and Matsuriya to hear the details.
Using a long-distance communication device built with the full extent of Otogi Company’s technology, I connected to the two of them at the research facility in the Runegard Kingdom.
“Long time no see, Otogin.”
“It’s been a while, Otogi-san.”
“The feeling is mutual. It’s been a while.”
We had left the analysis of Naitō’s body to them and came to the Great Forest Autonomous Region ourselves. Even if it’s only by voice, this is truly the first time we’ve spoken since right after the war ended.
“Let’s get right to it. I’ll report the analysis results.”
“Yes, please.”
Now that I’m finally about to hear the long-awaited results, I can feel the tension building.
“To start with the conclusion, the summoned are almost one hundred percent not human.”
“As expected…”
I had anticipated it, but hearing it stated outright still unsettles me.
“From the autopsy, the organs, body tissues, and even the skeletal structure all appeared human in form. But when we analyzed the blood and cells, we found that none of them were strictly human.

In particular, the fact that various resistances remained even after death, as if the body were still alive, closely resembles that of monsters.”
“What about other possibilities, such as homunculus technology?”
“That’s unlikely. Since my own body is that of a homunculus, I can tell you that homunculi are almost identical to humans in terms of body tissue.

We also compared it with similar technologies based on data we got from Metti, but the closest match was still monsters.”
By the way, Metti is apparently a nickname for Metidovan.
Metidovan also conducted a simple analysis using a small blood sample on their end, and the result likewise did not match any artificial life technologies known to them.
“And now, the most important part. If their body composition is essentially the same as monsters, then it wouldn’t be strange if they shared similar traits.”
“Such as?”
“The biggest concern right now is evolution. Monsters can undergo rapid evolution based on environment and experience, even without generational change.

There’s a possibility that the same could happen to the summoned heroes.”
That would mean-
“So there’s a chance that one day, we could suddenly transform into something no longer human?”
“I won’t deny it. Of course, evolution is something that only occurs in certain monsters, so the probability isn’t that high. But if it does happen, it would be a major problem.”
To be honest, this is far more shocking than I expected.
“Shuri-kun, please keep this confidential.”
“I agree. There’s no need to cause unnecessary fear among the summoned with information that isn’t even confirmed yet.”
If this were to become known, it would undoubtedly cause massive confusion.
At the very least, we need to think of countermeasures before sharing it. Otherwise, it would only lead to pointless chaos.
“For now, we’re cultivating Matsun’s body tissues to run comparative experiments and see if this possibility is real.

There is prior research on what differentiates monsters that evolve from those that don’t, but honestly, a lot of it isn’t very reliable. We’ll basically be starting from scratch, so it might take some time.”
“Even so, I’m grateful that you’re investigating it.”
This is an area beyond my reach, so I’m once again reminded how fortunate we are to have Shuri-kun on our side.
“We’ll continue our research here, but I think there’s another way to gather information as well.”
“Another way?”
“Yeah. If we want to know about monster evolution, we should just ask a monster.”
With that, Shuri-kun told me what he wanted me to do.
“The Dragon God of the Dragon Village, said to be the oldest living monster. He might know something about monster evolution… or even about Heroes that existed in the past.

I want you, Otogin, to go visit him and conduct an interview.”
It seems there is something I can do as well.
