Soul Devourer Chapter 4 Episode 3 — Sea of Flames and the Flame Giant

After arriving at the hotel where I would be staying, I followed Jin through the lavish, dazzling lobby and took the elevator up to the higher floors.

“This will be your room, Matsubara-sama.”

Jin opened the door and gestured for me to enter. The room was impeccably maintained, just as extravagantly luxurious as the lobby.

“Jin, thank you for preparing such a splendid room. By the way, how much is the accommodation fee?”

“The Chairman arranged this room, so if you have another opportunity to meet him, please convey your thanks directly. As for the lodging fee, there is no need.”

“…Is that really alright?”

“It is not a problem. More importantly, we hope you will fully enjoy our country.”

“Thank you.”

Jin’s expression remained unreadable, making it impossible to gauge his true intentions. Still, there’s always a catch behind generous offers.

My caution heightened further, but I kept it from showing on my face as I inspected the room.

There was nothing suspicious within sight, but just to be safe, I refrained from taking anything out of my《Magic Pouch》.

“Jin. Now that I’ve checked the room, I’d like to head to a dungeon next.”

“What rank?”

“S-Rank, please.”

“Understood. I shall guide you to the nearest S-Rank dungeon.”

“We have arrived.”

Jin stopped the car in front of a familiar sight, a towering cylindrical structure reaching high into the sky: a dungeon.

Just like in Japan, there was a branch office in front of the dungeon that handled appraisal and purchase of materials.

Numerous hunters, bearing the presence of seasoned veterans, were gathered there.

“Jin, what will you be doing afterward?”

“I will wait here. Please rest assured.”

“I understand. Then I’ll be off.”

With Jin waiting here, I judged there would be no issue with selling materials later.

Exposed to the gazes of those around me, I stepped through the black, vertically elongated oval: the dungeon entrance.

The field that spread out before me was almost entirely a sea of flames.

Sporadically scattered rugged rocky groundmasses were connected by ten-meter-wide stone pathways.

“It resembles the Fire Dragon’s dungeon field, but the real concern is the monsters…”

A monster about five meters tall, its entire body engulfed in roaring flames, making its true form impossible to discern; named Muspel.

It was truly like a fire-clad giant.

As expected of a monster that appears in an S-rank dungeon, it was stronger than the boss of an A-rank dungeon.

However, the skills it possessed were all ones I already knew.

“«Vortex Pillar»,【Riptide】”

I activated【Water Magic】, generating a swirling pillar of water that enveloped Muspel.

Then, with【Riptide】, I accelerated the flow speed, extinguishing the flames covering Muspel in an instant.

Revealed beneath was a body formed of red-hot rock, looking extremely sturdy.

To finish it, I rushed forward and leapt, activating【Kigong Arts】and【Ki Martial Arts】, launching a fist formed from my fighting spirit; a Ki Fist.

DogaAAAAAN!

The massive, sturdy body shattered into fragments of rock of all sizes, and Muspel fell silent.
