Konbini Ossan Volume 8 Chapter 12 — Wind Emperor and Ice Princess
The first to move was Satira.
“I’ll finish this in an instant!”
The moment she declares this, she raises both hands toward Tiana and Tio.
What she activates is a barrage of light-based attack magic. Countless streaks of light are fired, like lasers.
However, the two do not panic and respond calmly.
“That kind of thing—”
“—won’t work.”
As they speak, both raise the hand not holding their magitech saber toward the incoming attack magic.
Then, strangely enough, the light-based attack magic veers off in completely different directions.
“What?!”
Satira cannot hide her shock. And understandably so. This technique, too, is only possible thanks to equipment developed by Otogi Trading.
What Tiana and Tio have equipped on their hands are gauntlets fitted with large magic stones.
By channeling magical power through these stones, something like a defensive field is deployed.
This field does not simply negate magic. By interfering with the opponent’s magical power, it alters the trajectory of the spell.
It is neither nullification nor a barrier, merely deflection, which allows it to achieve high effectiveness at extremely low cost.
In fact, it easily bends even Satira’s magic.
As Satira stands there stunned, Tiana closes in first, with Tio following behind.
Tiana moves in and delivers a single slash.
“«Freeze»”
“This is nothing!”
Satira blocks Tiana’s sharp sword strike by parrying it with a gauntlet charged with magical power.
However, mere contact is enough for Tiana’s blade to take effect.
“W-What?!”
Satira’s gauntlet rapidly freezes over.
Tiana’s magitech saber is ice-attributed. Thanks to its extremely high magical pressure, the characteristics of the attribute manifest very clearly.
As a result, it gains the effect of freezing whatever it strikes with ice magic.
Since Tiana herself is also activating magic with the same effect, the synergy produces an intense freezing effect.
It is precisely because of this magic that freezes opponents the moment they are struck that Tiana earned the title “Ice Princess”.
“How troublesome!”
With one arm frozen, Satira seems to instantly grasp the nature of Tiana’s attack.
She avoids the second and third consecutive slashes without taking them head-on, evading each one precisely.
However, with one arm frozen and unable to parry, Satira is at a disadvantage. She is gradually being cornered.
After dodging roughly ten sword strikes, Tiana suddenly retreats.
Stepping forward at that moment is Tio.
“«Blow Away»”
Unlike Tiana, Tio wields a wind-attributed magitech saber.
Naturally, Satira evades that sword strike as well, instantly retreating to escape its trajectory.
But that alone is not enough.
“Guh!”
Despite clearly having dodged the attack, Satira somehow suffers shallow cuts all over her body.
This is the effect of Tio’s magitech saber. Simultaneous with the sword swing, it releases wind-based attack magic, shredding the opponent with slicing winds.
Here too, the synergy between the magic emitted from the magitech saber and the magic released by Tio himself produces powerful slicing winds.
Even so, the damage Satira takes amounts only to shallow cuts. That speaks to how high her magical power is, and how strong her resistance to magic attacks must be.
That said, damage is damage. Each time Tio swings his magitech saber again and again, Satira continues to accumulate wounds.
It is because of this suppressive power gained by unleashing slicing winds that Tio became known as the adventurer called the “Wind Emperor”.
