Konbini Ossan Volume 7 Chapter 23 — Continuing the Explanation
After explaining the situation to Arisa, I went on to speak with Maria, and then Shirley.
Both of them seemed surprised about Joan-kun’s situation, but neither showed any particular resistance and accepted it calmly.
With that, it seemed we would be able to proceed safely with the marriage, including Joan-kun as well.
Finally, I went to explain things to Marceline.
That day, Marceline was off duty and appeared to be at her own residence in the royal capital.
So I brought Joan-kun with me and headed there.
As the Captain of the Knight Order, Marceline earns a substantial salary and lives in a fairly large mansion.
It is Marceline’s private home, and she lives there alone, but she employs several maids to manage the estate and handle household duties.
As we approached the mansion and passed through the gate, I saw a maid who seemed to be tending to the garden and called out to her.
“Excuse me, is Marceline-san at home? My name is Otsugi, and I have something I’d like to discuss with her.”
“Otsugi-sama, yes. Please wait a moment. I will inform my mistress.”
With that, the maid entered the mansion.
A few minutes later, the front door flew open, and Marceline appeared.
“Otsugi-dono! This is your first time coming here, isn’t it? I’m glad you came to visit!”
“Yes. I’m also glad to see you in clothing other than your knight’s uniform, Marceline-san.”
It seems she does not wear her knightly attire at all times.
She was dressed much like any other woman, but perhaps thanks to her high income, the embroidery and decorations throughout her clothing looked expensive.
Her hair ornament was similarly extravagant, the sort one might expect a noblewoman to wear, making her look every bit like a well-bred lady.
Without being told she was the Captain of the Knight Order, one would never guess it.
“Hm? By the way, Otsugi-dono. Who is the young woman with you?”
“Yes. Actually, there’s something about her that I also need to discuss. I’d like to talk at length, if possible.”
“Ah, I understand. Then let’s talk in the guest room. Follow me.”
Saying that, Marceline led the way. I followed behind with Joan-kun.
We were guided into the guest room, took our seats, and finally settled into a position to talk.
“Actually…”
With that, I began explaining the situation.
When I started with Joan-kun’s circumstances, Marceline pressed her fingers to her temple and muttered a single remark.
“Come to think of it, I heard rumors that Shuriva and the Sage were conducting some suspicious research. I never imagined it was something like this.”
She spoke in an exasperated tone and let out a sigh.
I continued my explanation, eventually reaching the main point: the matter of marriage, and my request that she accept Joan-kun as well.
After hearing everything, Marceline nodded once with a serious expression and opened her mouth.
“I understand the situation. I also understand that you are trying to properly address matters with me and the other women who would be your de facto wives.

I have no issue with polygamy. However, there is one thing, no, several things that concern me.”
“Concerns, you say? What might those be?”
When I asked, Marceline answered with an extremely serious expression.
“How do you intend to conduct the wedding ceremony?”
