Soul Devourer Chapter 2 Episode 12 — Cleaning Up and Searching for a New Home
Daiki, the mastermind behind the kidnapping, was dead. Every clan member who had helped him was dead as well.
The incident was, for now, resolved.
I didn’t want Dad and Mom to see this carnage, so I got straight to cleaning up.
I stored Daiki’s mostly intact corpse, then gathered every scattered piece of flesh one by one and burned them with【Fire Magic】.
I moved all the equipment into one place in the spectator seats, and buried the bloodstains in the arena under a thick layer of earth using【Earth Magic】, leveling the ground afterward.
The cameras that had been set up to record my supposed confession and the scene of me being lynched were all removed and stored. I also took the computer from the VIP room while I was at it.
Once the cleanup was done, I released the still-unconscious Dad and Mom from their restraints and carried them under each arm into the elevator.
I sat them on the sofa in the lobby and gently shook them.
“Dad, Mom. Wake up.”
After calling out several times and shaking them, they slowly opened their eyes, stared at my face, then looked around.
“Yuito… where are we?”
“This is the lobby of the headquarters of a big clan called「Demon-fist Raiders」.”
“But why are we here?”
“I’ll explain everything later. For now, we should have you checked at a hospital.”
““...?””
With puzzled looks on their faces, they followed me into a taxi.
At the nearest hospital, they had physical and blood tests done. The quick results showed no abnormalities.
We got in another taxi and went home. I sent them straight upstairs, and while using【Water Magic】I cleaned the bloodstains as best I could.
For whatever stains didn’t come off, I’d just explain them later by saying I lost my temper and punched the guy too hard.
When I finished, I called Dad and Mom downstairs. Once they were seated, I explained the parts of the incident that I could tell them.
“…I see. That S-rank Hunter got jealous of you and kidnapped us to scare you a little.”
“And earlier you said, ‘He promised he would never do something like this again’… but is that really alright? Can we trust that?”
“It’s alright. He’ll never be able to do anything like that again.”
“…If Yuito says so, then I’ll believe it.”
“Yes. I trust you.”
“But there’s still a chance that different people might try something similar. So we need to move as soon as possible to somewhere safer.”
“You’re right. What you feared actually happened. We can’t treat it like someone else’s problem anymore.”
“Exactly. More than anything, your mother and I became a burden to you.”
“Dad has work, so Mom and I will look around for a place. Don’t worry about moving costs or living expenses.”
““Thank you.””
“So first, I should ask Dad. Do you have any preferences? Layout, space, anything?”
“Let’s see…”
While listening to Dad’s requests, I decided to take a few days off from Hunter activities and focus entirely on finding us a new home.
