Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 73 — A Shocking Emergency Report
A staff member who had received a call from the S-rank dungeon’s outpost hurried through the Hunter Guild’s hallway in a panic.
When he reached his destination, he took a deep breath to steady himself, then knocked on the door three times.
Kon! Kon! Kon!
“Guildmaster. I’ve come with an urgent report.”
“Enter.”
“Excuse me.”
After receiving permission, the staff member stepped inside and stopped in front of the desk, straightening his posture.
“So, what is this urgent report?”
“Yes. We just received word from the S-rank dungeon outpost. Hunter Yuito Matsubara has reportedly cleared the S-rank dungeon.”
“W-What!?”
Hearing the unexpected report, the Guildmaster, Ogawa Tadaaki, shot to his feet. Forcing himself to calm down, he demanded the basis for such a claim.
“He cleared it — what grounds do they have for making that judgment?”
“They say they identified the materials he brought out. The materials consisted of a magic stone, fangs, hide, bones, and blood — all from a previously unconfirmed monster called a Fire Dragon.”
“…I see. I recall that in foreign S-rank dungeons, there are locations where wyverns of different attributes appear. The boss of those dungeons was a dragon of the same attribute as the wyverns.”
“Judging from the name Fire Dragon, there’s no doubt it shares the same attribute as the Flame Wyvern.”
“Indeed.”
“They also conducted an appraisal on a longsword believed to be the dungeon reward. It reportedly had rare effects: dragon-slaying amplification and property of indestructibility.”
“Unbreakable — meaning the weapon doesn’t take damage?”
“That’s correct.”
“For a hunter, that’s a dream weapon. That said, although I don’t doubt the staff member who appraised it, this is a matter of importance.

We should reappraise it here. Is the item still at the outpost?”
“No, Hunter Matsubara currently has it in his possession.”
“Then tomorrow, we will ask him to come to the Guild. We also need to hold an emergency discussion. If this turns out to be true, we’ll want to buy the materials as soon as possible.”

“We absolutely must ensure Matsubara stays in this country. We should prepare some kind of special treatment for him.”
“Yes, that will require discussion as well.”
“Good. I’ll begin arranging for that meeting.”
“I’ll contact Hunter Matsubara afterward.”
“I’m counting on you.”
