Konbini Ossan Volume 7 : Working Together Towards the Future || Chapter 1 — A Vision of the Future
After that, Arisa and I returned to the royal capital and went around greeting the neighbors near the magic tool shop.
We told them that Arisa and I were getting married.
It seemed that many people had been laying the groundwork behind the scenes, because quite a few reacted with visible relief, saying things like how glad they were that everything worked out.
After that, we went to thank everyone who had helped us.
In particular, we bowed our heads again and again to Marquis Roosevelt, Kanehama, and Mimori, whom we had caused a great deal of trouble.
Once all of that had finally been taken care of, Arisa and I at last went to the government office, completed the paperwork, and officially registered our marriage.
That was earlier today, just after noon.
Now it was night. In Arisa’s room, the two of us sat facing each other on chairs, alone together.
“Arisa. Starting today, you and I are husband and wife.”
“Y-Yeah. That’s right. It’s kind of, um… embarrassing, isn’t it?”
Fiddling with her hair, Arisa said this while looking away in a shy, adorable manner.
She seemed nervous, but what I had planned was probably not what she was imagining.
“Since we’re becoming husband and wife, there’s one important thing we need to do.”
“Yeah. Th-That thing, right?”
“Yeah. First, we need to talk.”
“Huh?”
Caught off guard by my words, Arisa made a blank expression and let out a small sound.
“What’s wrong, Arisa?”
“N-No! It’s nothing! Yeah, talking is important! Totally, yeah!”
(E/N: Hehe boi! 😏)
She said this as if trying to cover things up. It wasn’t hard to imagine what kind of misunderstanding she’d had, but I decided to leave it alone.
“We haven’t really talked properly about our thoughts, how we feel, or what we want to do. We’ve barely shared anything beyond the bare minimum, purely practical stuff.
…
Because of that, we almost ended up in a situation we couldn’t take back.”
“Yeah… you’re right.”
Arisa nodded firmly, clearly understanding.
“That’s why I want us to be careful from now on, so that never happens again. What we want to do, what kind of goals we want to aim for — anything at all.
…
I want us to tell each other what we’re thinking and share it properly. What do you think, Arisa?”
When I asked, Arisa nodded and agreed.
“Yeah, I think that’s good. I want to know what you’re thinking too, Yūichi. And I want you to know me better as well.”
“Arisa.”
Her sweet words made her so dear to me that I couldn’t help but pull her into my arms.
“Wah! Y-Yūichi?!”
“You really are adorable, Arisa.”
“H-Hey, wait! That’s embarrassing! This wasn’t that kind of mood just now!”
She struggled desperately, clearly flustered, so I had no choice but to let go.
“Anyway, I really do want us to talk things through properly. Tonight, I want us to talk about all the things we couldn’t talk about before.”
“Yeah. I understand.”
And so, that night, Arisa and I spent our time putting our feelings into words — what we liked about each other, what we wanted the other to work on, and all sorts of thoughts we had been keeping inside.
