Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 52 — Testing【Necromancy】

Once I reached near the boss room, I immediately started testing【Necromancy】. First, I needed to know what kinds of undead I could summon.

The moment I tried activating the magic, the possible summons came to me intuitively. To make it clear, I listed them out.

━━━━━━━━━━
Summonable Monsters

• Skeleton Knight
• Skeleton Magician
• Skeleton King
• Lich

━━━━━━━━━━

The Knight, Magician, and King are monsters from C-rank dungeons, while the Lich is from the A-rank dungeon.

There are other undead monsters in the world, but it seems I can’t summon those. I don’t know the exact conditions, but I can guess.

Either I need to have seen the monster before, or I need to have defeated it.

Seeing one is easy enough, so defeating it is probably the real requirement.

Next, I tried actually summoning them while paying attention to how much magic power they consumed.

I started with the Skeleton Knight. Checking the magic consumption, then looking forward, I saw it had a chipped longsword and round shield, with the same number and levels of skills as the originals.

If giving it simple commands allows it to act independently, then I wouldn’t need to personally deal with monsters or hunters ranked C or below.

“No… wait. My Unique Skill’s effects only apply to me. At best they’ll be decoys or distractions.”

I moved on and summoned a Skeleton Magician, checking the consumption as well. Both the Knight and Magician used 20 magic each.

With my magic power now exceeding 2,000, that meant I could summon around a hundred at once. I could single-handedly unleash a swarm that rivaled a stampede.

After that, I summoned a Skeleton King and a Lich. Their magic consumption was 30 and 50 respectively.

Even Liches could be summoned in numbers — up to about forty. And since those Liches could summon Skeleton Knights themselves, they could build an even deadlier undead army.

“An undead army alone could take on an S-rank hunter.”

Feeling satisfied with how much stronger I’d become, I moved on to the final test.

I cut down the four unmoving summons with my dagger… but there were no stat gains and no skill notifications.

“…As expected, I don’t get experience from monsters I summon myself.”

It was what I predicted, so it didn’t bother me much. If I want to get stronger, I just need to fight properly like always.

And after they died, their materials vanished without a trace. It seems I can’t cheat material profits either.

Alright, my body’s rested enough. Time to focus and take on the boss.

E/N:

I remember reading a WN where the Lich (especially one specialising in Wind magic) gave a lot of trouble for the MC. Yuito in that universe would be a menace 😂! Stay tuned!
