Soul Devourer Chapter 1 Episode 42 — The Breaking of an Enhanced Weapon
After finishing my meeting with the Guildmaster, I took a taxi to the A-rank dungeon in Toshima Ward.
When I went through the usual entry procedures, a guild employee called out to me.
“Um… are you really going in alone?”
“I just came from updating my hunter license, and the staff there were worried about the same thing.”
“And you’re still going to challenge it solo?”
“I won’t know how far my current strength can take me unless I try. Without that, I can’t plan how to retreat or prepare next time.”
“If you say that much, I won’t stop you. Please, just be careful.”
“Thank you.”
After finishing the entry procedure, I stepped through the gate. Before me stretched an endless desert.
Above, the blazing sun beat down mercilessly, and sweat was already seeping from my forehead.
“It’s insanely hot… how many degrees is this place?”
With the heat feeling like a constant sauna, I trudged forward. Around me, other hunters were locked in battle with monsters, struggling as their feet sank into the sand.
If they got too focused on fighting and forgot to hydrate, they could easily die from heatstroke or dehydration.
“Alright, here they come.”
Three distinct presences were moving rapidly beneath the sand, closing in fast. I leapt into the air, avoiding an attack from below — and the monsters revealed themselves.
Each over ten meters long, with dull, metallic sheen and countless segmented joints — horrifying multi-legged beasts — Armored Centipedes.
They waited below, ready to devour anything that fell within reach. I locked onto one and used the force of my descent to strike with my dagger.
CLANG!
“What—!?”
The blade I brought down on its head struck a hardened plate dead-on — and snapped clean in two.
“This dagger doesn’t stand a chance…”
It was the short sword I’d obtained from the C-rank dungeon boss, the Kobold King — later enhanced with an Poison Enchantment Potion.
But against an A-rank monster, it was far too weak.
“If the weapon’s useless, then there’s only one option left.”
To avoid wasting more gear, I removed my《High Ogre Gauntlets》. Flexing my hands a few times, I kicked off the ground at full speed.
Leaping again, I brought my fist down with all my strength — and the Armored Centipede’s head and half its body exploded into chunks.

E/N:
That Hulk Smash with STR over 1,400 was not going to leave that Tremor-ahh monster unscathed and it didn't! 🤣 The aftermath would be disgusting! Stay tuned!
Also, Scorch Resistance is basically extreme heat resistance.

So, he really did 'cast' Fist.
ReplyDeleteThis 【Scorch Resistance】 going to be really useful in this desert environment. Or just plain regular summer.
Lmao, now you're making me doubt whether Martial Arts is Magic-type or not! The MTL was not tweaking after all, lol!
