Konbini Ossan Volume 5 Chapter 24 — The Incarnation of Calamity
I stepped toward the collapsed Aresvelg, thinking about which skill to test first.
I should begin with something unlikely to kill him instantly.
“Well then, Aresvelg. Let’s start by testing the combo of «Calamity» and «Body Odor».”
I activated both skills at full power.
First, I used «Calamity» to curse myself. My body strained under the dual torment of curse and plague, cold sweat pouring down my skin while the diseased patches began to emit a foul odor.
I then amplified those microscopic particles of stench with «Body Odor».
The curses and pathogens leaking from my body thickened into black smoke, drifting outward around me.
And at that moment, I felt it — my skill advancing to the next stage.
“I see. So this is the potential that the «Calculator» predicted for «Body Odor».”
What I had originally used as nothing more than a foul deterrent for monsters had evolved.
When combined with «Calamity», the amplified particles became a genuine miasma capable of cursing and infecting others.
The new skill was «Miasma» — the ability to freely generate smoke filled with concentrated curse and disease.
I activated «Miasma». It produced far more black smoke, far more smoothly, than the improvised method of combining «Calamity» and «Body Odor».
And it was partially controllable. When I willed the smoke to gather around Aresvelg’s right arm, it drifted and wrapped around it.
『GRAAAAH!』
Aresvelg screamed in agony.
When I canceled «Miasma», the smoke dissipated instantly, revealing a right arm melted into sludge as if dissolved by acid.
“The power of «Miasma» is impressive. One should not underestimate body odor.”
Satisfied with the result, I moved on to the next test.
Next was «Iron-Blood».
I cursed the blood flowing from my arm with «Calamity», gathered a heavy concentration of «Miasma», and condensed it.
What formed was a thick, red-black liquid saturated with curse and disease.
This was the next skill I had been aiming for: «Curse-Sludge».
A skill that generates a viscous, accursed fluid from my own blood.
Since «Curse-Sludge» is made from my blood, it qualifies as a medium for «Iron-Blood».
It can also be dispersed as mist together with «Miasma».
“With «Curse-Sludge» spread throughout the air as drifting mist, my blood still remains under the authority of «Iron-Blood». Which means… I can do this.”
I spread «Curse-Sludge» around Aresvelg — carefully avoiding direct contact so he wouldn’t die instantly — and then generated countless Orichalcum blades from it.
Far more efficient than swinging them from my arm.
I created countless wire-thin threads of Orichalcum and vibrated them with «Leg-Jitter» to maximize their cutting strength.
Passing through «Curse-Sludge» warped the Orichalcum, transforming it into cursed metal.
Those threads, lethal enough to rot human flesh on contact, rained down upon Aresvelg’s scales.
Scales that had once blocked my Orichalcum strike split apart effortlessly, carving deep gashes across his massive body.
『GUH…! Wh-what… is happening to me…!?』
He coughed up blood.
Not only from the cuts — the cursed metal delivered the curse of «Curse-Sludge» directly into his body.
“You must be tired by now. Shall I put you out of your misery?”
I had obtained the two skills I was looking for, and confirmed their functionality. It was time to finish this.
Aresvelg lay immobile. I could have left him to slowly die from the curse, but better to end it cleanly.
“Thank you for your help, Aresvelg. Thanks to you, I’ve confirmed that I’ve gained the power I expected.”
With those words, I produced another Orichalcum blade from «Curse-Sludge» and severed his head in a single stroke.
He should have died then.
But I didn’t take chances — I immediately buried the body in a mass of cursed mire, rotting and dissolving it until nothing remained.
Fortunately, Aresvelg’s scales contained metallic crystalline structures, allowing a portion of them to be stored using «Iron-Blood».
It would be wasteful not to collect them.
Over the course of a few seconds, his corpse melted away completely.
Even after beheading, he seemed to retain a shred of consciousness, mumbling within the mire:
『Terrifying… accursed power… an incarnation of calamity…』
Or so it sounded.
In any case, the battle with Aresvelg was over.
And the base was safe.

E/N:
Body odor so intense, it evolved into Miasma ffs 🤣! Now I'm finding it difficult to distinguish who exactly Demon King is! Stay tuned!
