Konbini Ossan Volume 3 Chapter 30 — The Old Man’s New Technique
“Ho~… so you think you can stop me?”
Schuberich readied himself as he spoke, preparing for battle.
“My body is forged from the legendary metal, Orichalcum. I feel no real strength from you.
…
Do you really believe a lowly human like yourself can break through this defense?”
He seemed utterly confident in his protection. Looking closely, both Schuberich and the surrounding golems were all made of the same colored metal.
That must mean they were all composed of Orichalcum.
Orichalcum is among the highest-grade metals in this world. Extremely durable, resistant to heat and magic, and utterly unbreakable by half-hearted power.
It’s prized for weapons and armor, so much so that even S-rank adventurers seek it out for their equipment.
If his entire body is made of Orichalcum, it’s no wonder he’s so sturdy.
But for me, that makes things all the more convenient.
“Let’s test whether I can break through or not.”
I said that and quickly closed the distance to Schuberich. When it comes to speed, I’m clearly superior — probably because he’s weighed down by his metal body.
Before he could fully react, I launched a kick.
My heel struck Schuberich’s side and sliced straight through the Orichalcum.
“What… what is this!?”
He staggered back in shock, swinging his arm wildly in retaliation. That blow looked dangerous, so I quickly retreated out of range.
Clutching his side, Schuberich stood frozen, as if unable to comprehend the wound.
“What trick did you use, human?”
“It’s nothing special.”
“Lies! My body is Orichalcum itself! Even Orichalcum against Orichalcum could not harm me so easily!”
His voice trembled with rage. To have his supposedly absolute defense broken was infuriating to him.
Yet the fact remained — I had cut through Orichalcum with a single kick.
No, more accurately, I didn’t slice it.
I shaved it away.
Among the many skills I possess is one called «Leg Jitter». It’s a strange ability, something carried over from my life back in Japan.
At first glance, its effect — making my leg tremble rapidly — seems utterly useless.
But skills in this world can grow, transcending even the laws of physics and magic.
I started paying attention to «Leg Jitter» after I began raising my level, once I’d taken up adventuring. I was desperately searching for ways to boost my offensive power.
I even considered self-destructive skills, but as expected, those were limited by the damage they inflicted on me.
Then one day I realized something: the shaking speed — the frequency — of «Leg Jitter» wasn’t fixed. The higher my stats climbed, and the more I trained it, the faster the vibration became.
A leg vibrating at extreme speed… surely I could turn that into a weapon.
And now, with a supply of rare metals and the ability to draw them out freely thanks to my «Iron Blood» skill, I found the missing piece.
By combining the two, I developed a technique. I call it the High-Frequency Blade Kick.
Using «Iron Blood», I generate a layer of fine metallic blades along my leg. Then, with «Leg Jitter», I make them vibrate at an ultra-high frequency.
When I kick, the surface I strike gets shaved away at the microscopic level. And as just proven against Schuberich, it works.
Orichalcum may be tougher than Mithril, but not by an impossible margin. Thanks to my Mithril High-Frequency Blade Kick, I managed to grind away his defense.
Though in exchange, the Mithril wore down badly.
“In any case, Schuberich, your endurance won’t be enough to stop my attacks.”
“Impossible…!”
He reeled in disbelief. No doubt this was the first time his vaunted defense had been breached so easily. His shock was understandable.
But soon his panic subsided. Still holding his side, he regained composure and spoke in a mocking tone.
“However, human, you are mistaken. I have already seized control of this dungeon’s monster-generation energy. Do you understand what that means?”
I shook my head. I couldn’t follow his sudden declaration.
“It means that for as long as this energy remains, I can create monsters at will. Even if that monster… is myself!”
In the next instant, light gathered around Schuberich, flowing particularly into his wounded side.
When the glow faded, the missing Orichalcum had been restored. His torso was once again flawless, the damage erased.
“Fufufu, do you see, human? As long as this dungeon’s energy endures, I can regenerate myself endlessly. In other words, you never had a chance of victory from the start!”
Schuberich boasted proudly. My attack had been meaningless all along.
No matter how much I shaved away, he would just heal it back immediately. At this rate, I could never bring him down.
But in truth, this only played to my advantage.
After all, my means of attack are not limited to just one.
