Konbini Ossan Volume 3 Chapter 16 — Is It Wrong Between Men?
Yuuki’s shocking words left Arisa frozen stiff.
I had a little more composure than she did, but even so, I found myself at a loss for how to respond.
“Um, Yuuki. Are you saying you’re looking at me in a sexual way?”
There was no point in staying silent, so I asked the essential question.
“Yes. Completely so. About half respect, half romantic feelings, I’d say. Either way, I like you, Otsugi-san.”
Without the slightest embarrassment, Yuuki declared it boldly.
To sum it up, Yuuki was gay, and he harbored romantic feelings toward me.
No, there was no need to “sum it up”. It was exactly as he’d just said.
“Of course, I have no intention of forcing myself on you, so don’t worry.”
“I see. Well, that’s certainly something I’d expect you to respect.”
Still, I never imagined I’d find myself worrying about my own rear end. Truly beyond anything I could have foreseen.
But no matter how unexpected, I had to deal with it. This was another world, after all. Modern Japanese common sense didn’t apply.
Stranger things surely existed here than a male ally suddenly confessing he was gay and in love with me.
I couldn’t allow myself to be shaken by something like this.
“However, I’m sorry, Yuuki. I can’t return your feelings.”
“I see. So is it that you can’t accept it because it’s between men?”
“Not ‘maybe’ — definitely. I can’t accept it between men.”
I stated my honest feelings. Hopefully, that would make him give up on me.
“That’s odd. I heard from Shriva, the court magician, that you already had experience with another man.”
Ah. That was troublesome.
It was true that Shuri-kun and I had been intimate. But that was only because Shuri-kun looked so much like a girl.
So no, I couldn’t feel romantic attraction toward men. Shuri-kun had simply been an exception, the result of lust overwhelming me.

“Then doesn’t that mean I might have a chance?”
“No. Shuri-kun looks, no matter how you judge it, like a girl. Even my instincts perceive him as closer to female.

It was Arisa. And her tone carried a sharp edge of intimidation.
