Konbini Ossan Volume 1 Chapter 17 – The Enchantment Magic Teacher
On the morning of the sixth day, I immediately asked Marceline for help in learning Enchantment Magic.
“So, Lady Marceline, I’d like to learn Enchantment Magic.”
“You always jump straight into things, don't you, Otsugi-dono.”
Lady Marceline let out a sigh, sounding exasperated.
But honestly, it's better to get straight to the point — it saves time for both of us. Call it a mutually beneficial form of efficiency.
“If it’s magic you want to learn, I’ll introduce you to Shriva, the Royal Court Magician.
…
If the request comes from me, the Captain of the Knights, he’ll probably listen. Especially since there’s also a royal decree saying not to hinder your movements.”
With that, Lady Marceline promptly began guiding me toward Shriva’s residence.
Apparently, Royal Magician Shriva always stays locked up in his laboratory at the top floor of a spire on the west side of the castle.
Along the way, Lady Marceline shared a number of… "colorful" opinions about him.
“He's a pervert. Be careful. You probably fit right into his strike zone. I’ve had to clean up after him more times than I can count.”
She kept muttering such things the whole way.
Well, the goddess did say I was a bit of a pervert myself, so maybe I’ll get along with Shriva just fine.
(E/N: Uncle, don't self-deprecate, you freak!)
While listening to Lady Marceline’s complaints, we eventually arrived at Shriva’s lab.
She knocked on the door first.
“Shriva. It’s me, Marceline. I’ve come with a request—not to punish you. Please open the door.”
That was an odd way of phrasing things.
Slowly, the door creaked open. It seemed to operate automatically, like a sliding door.
Luckily, it opened inward. If it had swung outward, Lady Marceline might’ve been smacked by it.
...Well, she probably knew that already and would've kept her distance if necessary.
“We’re coming in.”
Lady Marceline said as she stepped inside, and I followed.
“Yaaay, Maru-Maru! What brings you here? Something urgent?”
A voice called out from the back of the room.
Looking over, I saw someone who appeared to be a "young girl" standing there.
She(?) had short, bob-cut blue hair and wore an elaborately embroidered robe — fancy attire for someone her(?) size.
“Shriva. This time, the request isn’t from me. It’s from this man, Otsugi-dono—one of the people summoned from another world.”
“What? A request from an otherworlder? Tell me everything—I'm listening, totally listening!”
Shriva suddenly ran over to me and stopped just inches away.
Given their short stature, Shriva’s head only reached about my stomach.
“So you’re the one from another world?”
“Yes. My name is Yuichi Otsugi.”
“Yuichi Otsugi... Hmm. Not cute enough. From now on, you’ll be Otogin. That's what you should call yourself.”
“Uh, alright. I’m Otogin, the otherworlder.”
“Ooh, you’re so agreeable, Otogin! I love that in a boy!”
Then, the effeminate Shuriva threw her(?) arms around me in a hug. Due to the height difference, her(?) face was at… well, a rather awkward position.
Feeling awkward, I turned to Marceline for help.
“Don’t worry, Otsugi-dono. Ignore it. Despite appearances, this person is over a hundred years old. And, more importantly—he’s a man.”
“A man, huh… that’s something.”
Indeed, this world really is full of surprises.

E/N:
Ossan, your reaction is too mild. We just saw a trap in the wild and he's not even an elf?!
If it were my friends, they'd say "Smash!" and swipe right!
