Soul Devourer Chapter 8 Episode 13 — Subjugating Tiamat
Waiting for us after we stepped into the SS-Rank dungeon was the “Primordial Goddess of the Sea” who had rebelled against the gods; Tiamat.
The moment I faced her, I took《Dáinsleif》out of my《Magic Pouch》.
Using【Zero Sever • Oblivion Edge】and【Slash Arts】integrated into【Skanda】, I unleashed a gigantic slash.
The slash tore through the jet-black sea as it raced forward, giving Tiamat not even a chance to dodge before cleanly cleaving her enormous body in two.
The result didn't surprise me.
There was simply too great a gap in combat power between Tiamat and me.
She didn't have the ability to nullify Divine Artifacts like Typhon, nor did she possess a ridiculously powerful enhancement ability like Asura.
So there was nothing strange about the result, but… something was wrong.
There was no notification saying I had acquired an Extra Skill.
Tiamat's corpse, cleaved cleanly in two, was floating right before me, **so why haven't I received a skill acquisition notification?
Then, Tiamat's enormous body sank into the jet-black sea of its own accord. Before long, the surface of the sea bulged upward again, and Tiamat emerged in exactly the same form as before.
“…”
When I examined Tiamat's status earlier, she didn't possess abilities such as【Regeneration】or【Instant Regeneration】.
And that hadn't been the regeneration of a severed body part. I had definitely inflicted a fatal wound, yet she had revived in her original form.
It was less like regeneration and more like rebirth.
In that case, next, I used【Nova Magic】integrated into【Axiom】.
With «Explosion», I reduced her enormous body to countless pieces of flesh.
Another one-hit kill.
But just as before, she repeated the same behavior and was reborn in her original form.
This was undoubtedly the power of【Nethersea Rebirth】.
Apparently, attacking Tiamat's main body was completely meaningless.
“Samael. Wrap yourself around her body and restrict her movements.”
“Tamuel. You do the same as Samael and get in her way. Focus your attacks on her face.”
“Nox. Use《Laevateinn》to create wounds on her body.”
“Carmilla. Interfere with the blood flowing from the wounds Nox creates and create «Blood Soldiers».”
~squirm~squirm~squirm~
~clatter~clatter~clatter~
~~~~
“Understood.”
I gave Samael and the others their instructions, then watched the battle unfold.
Samael wrapped himself around Tiamat's enormous body and bit down with his powerful jaws.
He seemed to be using poison attacks through【Venophage】as well, but unfortunately,【Immutable】meant they would have no effect.
However, he was able to restrict her movements.
As Tiamat thrashed about in an attempt to shake Samael off, Tamuel unleashed single-target attack magic of 6 different attributes.
Just as instructed, he concentrated his attacks on her face.
But this was also almost meaningless due to【Spellbane】.
The real attacks were Nox's greatsword and Carmilla's【Cruor Dominion】.
Carmilla manipulated the blood flowing from the wounds Nox inflicted and formed «Blood Soldiers» equivalent to SS-Rank monsters.
The «Blood Soldiers» each wielded «Blood Swords» and «Blood Spears» as they swarmed Tiamat.
Samael and the others had also reached their level caps in accordance with my own growth, bringing their average stats above 2,000.
In a simple contest of strength, Tiamat couldn't compete with Samael and the others.
The outcome had been obvious from the beginning.
GYAAAAAAAH!
Tiamat let out a shrill scream and sank into the jet-black sea.
Even so, there was still no skill acquisition notification.
But I had figured something out.
As long as this jet-black sea existed, Tiamat could probably continue being reborn indefinitely.
The “Rebirth” in【Nethersea Rebirth】 means infinite lives? Is that what it is?
Then I had to do something about this jet-black sea.
……I activated【Dominion Magic】,【Azure Inferno】, and【Parallel Casting】integrated into【Axiom】.
«Sun Fall»
Ten magic circles appeared overhead, and blue-burning suns peeked out from within them.
【Dominion Magic】unleashed with more than 2.3 million Intelligence. Further enhanced by【Azure Inferno】, its scorching authority engulfed the sky.
A blue-flaming sun that burned away the overcast sky descended upon Tiamat.
Her enormous body was reduced to charcoal in an instant before sinking into the jet-black sea. Then, the overwhelming heat caused the jet-black sea to evaporate in the blink of an eye.
As if proving that this method of defeating her was correct, Tiamat's rebirth was clearly delayed while the jet-black sea was evaporating.
However, as the name “sea” implied, the jet-black waters were vast enough to cover the entire field.
But with my Intelligence, evaporating every last drop would be effortless.
I gathered up the remaining seawater, and once Tiamat had been reborn from it, I blew her to pieces once again with «Explosion».
Once the entire jet-black sea had evaporated, Tiamat lost her source for regeneration. This time, she did not revive, finally falling silent as nothing more than pieces of flesh.
