Soul Devourer Chapter 6 Episode 9 — The God of Game's Miscalculation

Humans living within a civilization remarkably similar to medieval Europe.

Monsters that served as both their source of sustenance and their greatest threat.

And beastkin, dwarves, elves, and demonfolk, who possessed abilities far surpassing those of humans and stood in opposition to them.

A world that seemed as though it had come straight from an isekai fantasy novel or anime truly existed in another dimension.

The name of that world is…

Aldira」.

And there existed a being who managed both「Aldira」and Earth, which had become consumed by fantasy.

The God who governed Creation and Games…

Rudi.

Before fantasy had invaded Earth, it had been a world where large-scale conflicts between nations were rare, and people could generally live in peace.

But to Rudi, that tranquility was unbearably dull.

To him, even wars that claimed countless lives were merely a form of "entertainment".

Gradually losing interest in Earth, he shifted the focus of his management to「Aldira」.

Aldira」was a chaotic world where conflict never ceased between humanity and monsters, as well as among the races of mankind themselves.

However, an unforeseen event occurred there.

…Humans went extinct.

The cause was not monsters.

Rather, they had lost the brutal struggle for survival against the other humanoid races: beastkin, dwarves, elves, and demonfolk.

Beastkin possessed lifespans similar to humans.

However, they also boasted comparable reproductive capabilities and overwhelming close-combat prowess, whether fighting barehanded or with weapons.

Dwarves lived for several centuries and excelled in both smithing and axe combat.

Though inferior to beastkin in pure close-range combat ability, they compensated through the superior quality of their weapons and could fight on equal footing or better.

Elves were a long-lived race capable of surviving for over a thousand years.

Though their fertility was extremely low, they excelled in archery and magic, and the combat capability of an individual elf greatly surpassed that of other races.

Demonfolk lived for several centuries and were a versatile race capable of both close-range and long-range combat.

Without any obvious weaknesses, they were the most balanced humanoid race overall.

As these four superior races repeatedly invaded and warred with one another in pursuit of world dominance…

Humans were eliminated, and the world transitioned into an era of conflict among the four great powers.

Yet eventually, even that conflict reached equilibrium.

The world fell into a stalemate.

Once again, Rudi became bored.

So he decided to bring about a "reformation" of the world itself.

An elevation of existence.

The numerical quantification of physical abilities and skills.

In other words…

The visualization of levels, status values, and skills.

If people could perceive their growth through clear numerical values, they would naturally seek opportunities to test their strength, causing conflicts to intensify even further.

That was his reasoning.

However, at that point, Rudi found himself wondering something.

…If this system had been granted before humanity went extinct, how would the war have unfolded?

Humans possessed reproductive capabilities that surpassed those of the other humanoid races.

It wasn't impossible that, through constant competition and self-improvement, exceptional individuals would have emerged and successfully resisted the other races.

Having reached that conclusion, Rudi considered recreating humanity.

But honestly, it sounded troublesome.

That was when his attention fell upon a world inhabited only by humans…

Earth.

There was no need to create humanity from scratch.

He could simply make use of the humans who already existed.

However, if he threw them into「Aldira」without any preparation, humanity would simply go extinct again.

That would defeat the purpose.

So first, he decided to change the mindset of Earth's people, who had grown complacent through peace.

He caused dungeons to appear on Earth and granted status values to challengers known as hunters.

Furthermore, while entirely random, he also provided powerful Unique Skills as special "bonuses".

The results exceeded expectations.

Humanity rapidly began showing signs of growth.

Among those who acquired Unique Skills, there were even individuals who had begun reaching levels comparable to the humanoid races of「Aldira」.

“This... if I watch a little longer, I should be able to witness some truly interesting battles.”

Overjoyed, Rudi continued observing both「Aldira」and Earth.

…However.

One day, when he checked on Earth's situation once more, he doubted his own eyes.

There stood the Fourth〘Regalia〙…

Yuito Matsubara.

Because he had no idea how far humans from a peaceful world could pursue growth, he had created the Unique Skill【Soul Eater】, a skill possessing limitless growth potential.

But…

“...This is too much.”

A complete anomaly.

Yuito's combat power had already surpassed the monsters and humanoid races of the other world by an overwhelming margin.

Furthermore, through the power of divine artifacts, even the monsters under his command had become beings beyond all standards.

“At this point, it isn't a game anymore.”

Muttering those words, Rudi exercised his authority as the creator.

Direct intervention into the Unique SkillSoul Eater】」.

Immediately afterward…

Just as Yuito Matsubara exited the S-Rank Dungeon in Russia after clearing it, an emotionless notification rang through his mind.

E/N:

Every time a God interferes with a mortal being, I get reminded of Rodcorte (Rodiot) from Death Mage… If I had the power, I would give that bih the same treatment as what Hajime did to Tio on his first meeting 🤣🤣🤣!

Stay tuned!
