Soul Devourer Chapter 6 Episode 11 — Revealing the Familiars, Under the Eyes of a Nation

Without warning, the mysterious God altered the mechanics of the Unique Skill【Soul Eater】.

As a result, every ability value Yuito had accumulated until now was reset.

Not only him, but even Samael and the others, whom he had massively strengthened through《Concordia》, were forced to undergo a significant weakening.

To be honest, it hit hard.

After all, something he had spent a long time building up had been taken away from him for no fault of his own.

However, it wasn't a complete loss.

As a form of “compensation” from the god, he had been granted a new Unique Skill.

…Unique Skill【Karma】.

Unable to ignore such an intriguing name, Yuito reopened the status window he had just closed and read through the description.

━━━━━━━━━━

【Karma】

  - When an opponent inflicts damage on the skill-holder through physical attacks, magic spells/attacks, or status ailments, the same amount and quality of damage will be inflicted upon themselves.

━━━━━━━━━━

...I see.

In short, it seemed to be a skill that “returns” the damage he received with his opponent.

Simply being attacked would itself become a counterattack.

Even after being weakened, Yuito could continue increasing his Endurance and Spirit through【Soul Eater】, making this skill far from a bad match for him.

In a pure battle of attrition, he would likely be the one left standing in the end.

…Though.

Back when his stats were around 200,000, there was no need to let a fight become close in the first place.

If he had to weigh the gains and losses...

It still felt more like a loss.

But it couldn't be helped.

He couldn't afford to incur a god's displeasure, and he hadn't lost his infinite growth potential.

He would simply have to build everything back up from scratch.

After composing himself, Yuito sent Samael and the others back into the dungeon, then teleported to the entrance of the Russian S-Rank Dungeon.

Just as he began walking to sell the mountain of materials he had collected from slaughtering Ugalutums…

Someone approached from ahead.

Ekaterina, accompanied by one of the〈Semi-Tsar〉.

Stopping in front of him, she briefly glanced around before fixing her gaze directly on him.

“Hunter Matsubara. I've heard that you're accompanied by three extremely dangerous monsters... yet I don't see them anywhere.”

“They aren't here at the moment. Also, I apologize for informing you after the fact, but my dungeon-clearing style involves fighting alongside my familiars.”

“'They aren't here at the moment'... Does that mean it's possible for you to show them to us again? I'd like to properly assess the threat level of your familiars.”

“Uh... my familiars aren't summoned or created beings. It's impossible to call them here on the spot.”

“Then how can we confirm their appearance?”

“I'll bring them with me tomorrow when I enter the dungeon. If it's then-”

“That is unacceptable.”

Ekaterina cut him off immediately.

“How much of a threat the familiars of a〘Regalia〙could potentially pose? If we cannot determine that, we cannot guarantee this nation's security. Please cooperate.”

...A fair point.

The familiars of a〘Regalia〙could hardly be weak.

At the very least, they had already proven themselves capable of clearing S-Rank Dungeons.

It was only natural for a nation to assess that threat in preparation for any unforeseen circumstances.

If he were being honest, he would have preferred not to reveal his strength.

But this was one matter where he needed to give ground.

“Understood. However, please refrain from discussing my personal combat capabilities.”

“...Understood.”

After receiving her agreement, Yuito activated【Void Magic】.

He teleported to the Troll Dungeon, retrieved Samael and the others, and returned.

As expected of a〘Regalia〙and one of the〈Semi-Tsar〉, neither of them showed significant surprise upon seeing the three monsters.

However, their gazes were sharp.

“...Levels 105, 99, and 96. Upper-tier S-Rank monsters... No, compared to hunters, they are equivalent to a〘Transcendent〙.”

“Lady Ekaterina... this is far too dangerous.”

“Hunter Matsubara. Is there any possibility that your familiars might attack hunters indiscriminately?”

“There isn't. They obey my commands absolutely. However... if they're attacked first, that's a different story.”

“...I see. Understood.”

After a brief pause, Ekaterina spoke calmly.

“We will permit you to clear dungeons accompanied by your familiars.”

“Lady Ekaterina...!”

“It cannot be helped. There are other hunters who use monster companions. As long as their purpose is dungeon exploration, I have no objections.”

...However, she continued.

“If, by any chance, harm comes to hunters or citizens, be prepared to face severe punishment. This will not remain solely your personal responsibility. The dissolution of the Japan-Russia Alliance will also be considered.”

“...Understood.”

“Then excuse us. Please continue enjoying your dungeon expeditions.”

Leaving those words behind, Ekaterina and her companion quietly departed.

“One problem solved... only for another one to appear, huh.”

After sending Samael and the others back to the Troll Dungeon once more, Yuito headed toward Ivan.

E/N:

So a UqSk which returns the same amount of damage as the original attack “by the opponent, to the opponent”, very interesting… although the skill-holder's still taking damage.

Anyway, did Teleportation get exposed?

Stay tuned!
