Konbini Ossan Volume 16 Chapter 2 — State-of-the-Art Offensive Weapons
The operation began with a simultaneous barrage from tanks, self-propelled artillery, and combat vehicles.
The main guns mounted on Otogi Trading’s tanks do not require shells the way Earth’s tanks do. Using earth-attribute magic, the materials are formed on the spot into shells.
Furthermore, the propulsive force for the shells is also magical, requiring no gunpowder, with acceleration possible throughout the entire barrel.
As a result, they can fire at speeds exceeding Mach 6 while placing extremely little thermal or impact stress on the barrel.
As for the self-propelled artillery, since their shells are manufactured in advance, the cost per shot is high.
However, because the shells themselves can be made into magical tools, they can release devastating magical effects the instant they hit.
The technology used is basically something like explosive shells enhanced with magic.
Upon impact, an explosion and an intense vortex of kinetic energy are generated, while the shattered shell fragments rip the surrounding area to shreds.
Because such immense energy is released instantaneously, the shell fragments naturally become red-hot, creating something like a blazing tornado.
By unleashing these shells all at once in concentrated volleys, the goal was to damage the Douki.
Unfortunately, even this was not enough to kill them. SSSSS-level stats were simply that far beyond ordinary dimensions.
This attack was merely meant to consume Douki’s resources, in other words, to prevent them from taking other defensive actions.
In other words, by pinning the Douki in place with artillery fire, the real attack could begin.
That true strike was aerial bombardment by the air force.
In short, either annihilate the Douki with high-performance bombs created from the pinnacle of Otogi Trading’s technology, or blast them away to clear a path.
Not long after the bombardment began, the air force launched. From directly above the Douki, countless bombs were dropped.
Among the bombs used by Otogi Trading, the most powerful being deployed here were gravity wave bombs.
They created zones within a fixed area where gravitational intensity differed drastically. Like waves, the gravitational fields spread outward, causing spatial distortions and ruptures.
Because the resulting tears were caused by warped space itself rather than by direct force against physical durability, even monsters with immense toughness could not withstand them.
Even so, the Douki did not die instantly.
A single gravity wave bomb would merely crush and deform their bodies massively, not tear them apart. Only when multiple gravity waves overlapped could rupture finally occur.
Thanks to these gravity wave bombs, the extermination of Douki across a considerable area was confirmed.
However, the battle was only beginning.
Because such attacks required concentrated bombardment, the area cleared by this strike was only a few kilometers at most. The fact that gravity wave bombs prioritized power over area of effect likely contributed to that as well.
From here, repeated bombing runs would gradually force open a route to the Mediterranean.
A long battle had begun.
After four rounds of bombardment, a substantial area had been cleared of Douki, and our forces had begun cautiously stepping onto the land already consumed by darkness.
At last, a clear counterattack from the Douki began.
A Douki that was obviously larger than the others, carrying what appeared to be a weapon, revealed itself.
Metidovan stated that among the Candy Goblins, it bore traits similar to the military commanders who had once possessed exceptional combat ability.
As a provisional designation, we named this type “Douki General” and began dealing with them.
As expected, their movements still did not match their stats.
Aside from durability and one-hit-kill offensive power, they could still be considered ordinary monsters.
What differed from regular Douki was simply the sophistication of their movements.
Though movement varied between individuals, all of them displayed actions that, if translated into stat terms, would be possible for monsters exceeding rank S.
That made defeating them with our previous methods difficult.
And so, at last, the time came for exceptional individuals to step in and handle them.
