Soul Devourer Chapter 5 Episode 28 — Sympathy for the Trolls, Next Stop Russia
After six full clears of the S-Rank dungeon, the training of Samael and the others was finally complete.
Though it had only been a short span of two days, both I and Samael’s group had grown tremendously.
Looking back on it, they had truly been fulfilling days.
On the morning of the second day, while I was in the middle of the fourth dungeon run, I received a call from the guildmaster.
“…A management location for your familiars has been decided…”
The designated location was the very same dungeon where trolls appeared, those monsters I had once exterminated nearly a hundred of alone.
With Samael and the others as they were now, they could probably achieve a kill count exceeding what I had managed back then, even individually.
“After the Flame Wyverns… extinction is basically guaranteed for them too.”
Feeling a slight bit of sympathy for the trolls, I stepped onto the return magic circle. The instant I teleported outside, the gazes of the gathered hunters stabbed toward me all at once.
Well, that was only natural.
Beside me stood Samael, now a colossal hundred-meter giant.
And alongside him were Santa, standing nearly two meters tall, and Nox clad entirely in black armor.
As for Nox, I had entrusted him with the divine greatsword《Lævateinn》before beginning the fourth dungeon run.
《Balmung》and《Skofnung》had also been options, but a large knight wielding an ordinary longsword simply didn’t look right.
In the end, I concluded that the greatsword《Lævateinn》suited him best.
All he lacked now was a shield. If he acquired one, he would be able to fight in an even more knight-like style. I could only hope we obtained one in the next dungeon conquest.
While enduring the hunters’ stares, I crossed the plaza and stopped by the guild branch office to sell materials.
That said, bringing in too many at once risked destabilizing the market. This time, I limited myself to materials from ten Flame Wyverns and one Fire Dragon.
“The material purchase total comes to 16 billion yen.”
“Yes, thank you very much.”
There were still a tremendous number of materials sleeping inside the《Magic Pouch》. I’d sell them gradually while judging the proper timing.
Once the transaction ended, I picked up Samael and Nox, then activated【Flight】.
Santa floated through the air under his own power, flying alongside us as we headed toward the troll dungeon.
If it were only Santa and Nox, walking through the city would… well, probably only cause a minor disturbance.
But Samael was a completely different matter.
If a hundred-meter long giant moved through the city, panic among the residents would be unavoidable. Which was why I was transporting him personally.
Speaking of carrying him, all I was really doing was grabbing the《Chains of Overlord》wrapped around Samael’s body and lifting him that way.
The appearance was questionable, but the practicality was excellent.
Upon arriving at the troll dungeon, I issued an order to Samael and the others.
“Do not harm other hunters unless you are attacked first.”
After that, I released them into the field.
I regrouped with the Guildmaster waiting outside, then spoke to him near the guild branch office.
“Thank you for your cooperation. Though I’m the one who asked for this… I’m honestly surprised you managed to convince the other hunters.”
“Yes. It was difficult at first, but until they grow accustomed to other dungeons, we limited the arrangement to one year and offered free transportation along with increased material purchase prices. That was enough for most of them to accept.”
“I see…… in that case, I’ll cover those transportation fees and increased purchase prices myself. After all, it’s my selfish request that’s inconveniencing the other hunters.”
“No, that won’t be necessary.”
The Guildmaster shook his head.
“With your familiars remaining here while the other hunters relocate to different dungeons, the number of Stampedes will certainly decrease. This benefits the Hunter Guild as a whole. Therefore, we will handle the expenses ourselves.”
“…Understood.”
I nodded once, then changed the subject.
“By the way, I’m thinking it’s about time I started challenging dungeons in other countries as well.”
“Have you already decided which country?”
“Yes. Next… I’m thinking of Russia.”
“Understood. In that case, I’ll contact the Russian Hunter Guild later.”
“I appreciate it.”
