Soul Devourer Chapter 5 Episode 26 — Dungeon Requisition
At the entrance plaza of the B-Rank dungeon inhabited by trolls, there stood the Hunter Guild Guildmaster, Tadāki Ogawa.
Hunters exchanging information. Hunters meticulously performing final equipment checks.
Amid the usual bustle, Ogawa quietly instructed the staff member beside him to call out to the hunters who had finished selling materials or completing entry procedures.
Before long, a crowd naturally formed in the center of the plaza.
Ogawa swept his gaze across the gathered hunters and raised his voice from the depths of his chest.
“Hunters! Sorry for gathering you so suddenly. However, there is something urgent I must inform you of.”
“Something urgent to announce.”
That single phrase caused unrest to ripple through the atmosphere.
Without pause, Ogawa got straight to the point.
“I’ll start with the conclusion. From this point onward, this dungeon will serve as the habitat for the monsters under Hunter Matsubara’s control.”
For an instant, all sound vanished.
The next moment-!
“Wha-… what the hell do you mean by that!?”
A furious shout erupted.
Without showing the slightest agitation, Ogawa quietly nodded.
“It’s only natural to be confused. Which is precisely why I’ll explain things step by step. First-”
As if taking command of the scene, he slowly swept his gaze around.
“Hunter Matsubara, our nation’s〘Regalia〙, currently controls juvenile S-Rank monsters. One of them has already reached a total length of forty meters.”
A wave of commotion spread through the crowd.
“At that size, managing it at a private residence is impossible.”
“Then put it in a forest or the mountains! Or build some dedicated facility-!”
At the biting objection, Ogawa shook his head.
“A forest or mountain risks damaging the ecosystem. If we build a dedicated facility, then the anxiety of nearby residents becomes unavoidable. Which is exactly why-”
Ogawa declared firmly.
“The proper place for monsters is inside a dungeon.”
The rebuttal caught in their throats.
“Furthermore, Stampedes have recently been occurring frequently in this dungeon. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, they’ve been kept under control, but the reality is that the extermination speed has not kept up.”
A heavy silence spread.
“By allowing Hunter Matsubara’s monsters to inhabit this dungeon, we can regulate the monster population and prevent Stampedes before they occur… that is our objective.”
“But… they’re juveniles, right!? Is there any guarantee they can suppress the trolls!?”
Ogawa answered immediately.
“That monster grows ten meters in length every ten levels. In other words, it is currently equivalent to level forty.”
The sound of people gulping filled the plaza.
“It possesses combat power comparable to a Troll King. It will not fall behind.”
Silence descended once more.
“And-”
Ogawa continued.
“We would like all of you to continue culling monsters in other dungeons. As compensation, transportation fees will be fully exempt for one year. In addition, material purchase prices will receive a ten percent increase.”
Some showed expressions of relief. Others still looked unconvinced.
Ogawa spoke again as though driving the point home.
“This is not coercion. It is merely a request for cooperation. Continuing activities in this dungeon will not be prohibited. However-”
His gaze sharpened quietly.
“In the unlikely event an accident occurs, responsibility will rest with the individual. That is all.”
After finishing the explanation, Ogawa stepped away and contacted Guild Headquarters. Arrangements had to be made for compensation certificates and procedural coordination.
Even so, he did not immediately leave.
There were still hunters inside the dungeon.
They too needed to hear the same explanation.
…By the time Ogawa finally returned to headquarters, the curtain of night had already fallen.

E/N:
I mean, this isn't a bad deal as far as I can tell. Three tamed monsters can definitely cull and reduce possibility of Stampedes in multiple dungeons simultaneously, once they reach maturity! Many lives would be saved in return!
Stay tuned!
