Soul Devourer Chapter 5 Episode 17 — Seeking a Home for the Familiars
After teleporting back to the surface, Yuito passed through the plaza crowded with hunters and stopped by the Guild branch office.
He already knew what they were going to ask.
One by one, he explained about the companions traveling with him: Samael, Santa Muerte, and Nox Chevalier.
After finishing the explanation of Nox Chevalier’s stats and skills, they moved on to the material sale procedures.
Living Armor magic stones.
Sleepy Hollow’s magic stone.
And equipment such as the greatsword.
Once the appraisal was complete, the staff member spoke in a calm tone.
“The material purchase amount comes to 700 million yen.”
“Yes, thank you very much.”
The moment the procedures ended, he could feel the surrounding hunters’ gazes stabbing into him all at once.
Without paying them any mind, Yuuto used【Void Magic】to teleport away.
His destination was the Hunter Guild Headquarters.
With Samael accompanying him, entering the building was out of the question. It was somewhat rude, but this time he decided to have the Guildmaster come to him instead.
~Purururururu~
“Hello, Hunter Matsubara. Is there something you need?”
“I’m currently below the Hunter Guild Headquarters. Sorry for the trouble, but could you come over here? I figured it’d be quicker if you saw it directly.”
“Understood. I’ll head over now.”
Ending the call, Yuito waited for the Guildmaster.
Not long after, the Guildmaster appeared from the Guild entrance.
“Hunter Matsubara. The matter you wished to discuss is… about those monsters, I presume. I had already received reports, but…”
His gaze shifted toward Samael, and his words briefly faltered.
“…It’s considerably huge. I heard it was a centipede-type monster, but this far exceeds my imagination.”
“Yeah. Apparently, it grows ten meters every ten levels. It’s already enormous, but there’s still room for growth. The other two stay within reasonable limits even after growing, though…”
“I see. So then, what is it you wanted to discuss?”
“With this size, there’s no way it can keep living with me at home. Even if it’s under my control, to ordinary people it’s basically a disaster incarnate. So I came to ask if you had any good ideas.”
The Guildmaster crossed his arms and thought for a moment.
“…The first thing that comes to mind is managing it inside a dungeon.”
“Inside a dungeon?”
“Yes. If the dungeon becomes its habitat, it can also help cull monsters. Hunters wouldn’t need to spend manpower there, and it would help prevent Stampedes before they happen.”
“That actually makes a lot of sense.”
“We could also reassign the hunters who were active in that dungeon to others. As a result, the overall Stampede occurrence rate should decrease.”
“Still… won’t there be hunters who'd resent it?”
“Not zero, no. Which is why, as a Guild, we’ll limit ourselves to issuing warnings not to attack subjugated monsters. After that, it becomes a matter of personal responsibility.”
“I see… For example, releasing it into a sparsely populated forest or mountain— No, even then it wouldn’t ease residents’ concerns, and the impact on the ecosystem would be huge.”
“Exactly. The global consensus is that the proper place for monsters is inside dungeons. Letting them roam freely outdoors simply isn’t realistic.”
“Understood. Sorry for making such a selfish request, but if possible, I’d prefer a nearby dungeon. If that’s difficult, I don’t mind if you search nationwide.”
“Understood. However, there is one thing. If you begin selling massive quantities of materials hunted by your subjugated monsters, oversupply will crash the market. Please be careful about that.”
“Got it. Until we find a suitable dungeon, I’ll stay holed up somewhere.”
“…Please don’t push yourself too hard, Hunter Matsubara.”
“Yes.”
Seeing the Guildmaster off, Yuito let out a small sigh.
Alright then, it is time to seriously focus on raising these guys.
This would be his first time actually living inside a dungeon. He’d need to prepare a full set of outdoor equipment too.
As for monster repellent, there was no problem there. Previously, in a D-Rank dungeon where Orcs appeared, he had obtained an item that utilized body odor.
After watching the Guildmaster head back toward the entrance, Yuito and the others teleported away once more.

E/N:
Poor monsters of the chosen dungeon, Samael would be an absolute nightmare, not to say anything about the other two 🤣!
Also, as you have noticed, the frequency of upload has become very unstable in past few weeks. I'm just busy irl, finding a job, completing a few internships and projects as graduation nears.
I hope you, my readers, keep in your heart to keep reading what I upload and show some support to the author and if possible, donate to appreciate my works. I would be most grateful!
