Soul Devourer Chapter 4 Episode 48 — My First Deep Wound
The instant I kicked off the ground and charged forward, the expressions on the three Dragons’ faces changed.
Just one step, and their vision wavered, shock flashing across their eyes.
I hadn’t even activated any skill to boost my agility.
And yet, before they realized it, I was already right in front of them.
“Tch! He’s targeting Suyu!”
The large giant, Xingyu, shouted.
At that same moment, the robed woman, Suyu, snapped her fingers.
A blast erupted with a thunderous crack.
I was swallowed by the explosion’s light.
The shockwave hammered my entire body.
But I waved my arms through the blast as if cutting through wind and stepped forward even further.
Suyu’s face twisted in fear.
“Shit-!”
In the instant before I drove my dagger into her chest-!
A sharp pain, like being sliced by a razor-edged blade, tore through my right arm.
Blood sprayed, staining the earth red.
“Tch…!”
I reflexively leapt back and grabbed the wound.
More than the pain, the shock of being deeply cut for the first time stunned me.
I immediately activated【Regeneration】. In moments, the wound sealed and the bleeding stopped.
The slender man in light armor, Junyu, stood there gripping a longsword dripping with my blood.
To cut through a body that’s exceeded ten thousand in Endurance…?

“Fine. If they can’t see or sense me, that solves it.”
I activated【Phantom】, erasing my presence from this world.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw sweat bead on their brows as I slipped behind Suyu.
Without a sound, I slashed.

My dagger cut through empty air.
Suyu sprang forward and turned toward me.
At the same time, a【Debuff Magic】, «Bind Drain», wrapped around my body, restraining me.
“Junyu, there!”
“Leave it to me!”
Junyu’s shadow lunged in.
His longsword split the air, descending toward my neck-!
But just before it landed, I used【Warp】to break free of the bind.
…They saw through【Phantom】? No, think later. Let's take down Xingyu now!
Still invisible, I rushed Xingyu.
I slashed at his throat again-!
But he twisted his body as if he could see my blade clearly, dodging the ambush.
Huh…? Dodged again…?
I couldn’t hide my surprise.
Not once, but twice, they had evaded an ambush from【Phantom】.
Until now, no one had ever tracked me in this state.
If they were consistently reading me, then it had to be equipment or item effects, or all three of them were still hiding something.
I retreated and dispelled【Phantom】, facing them head-on.
Junyu’s strike was able to cut through my hardened body.
And they could repeatedly evade ambushes that should have been undetectable by any sensing skills.

Using their equipment or (unique) skills, the three were clawing desperately to keep up with me.

And yet the battle was balanced.

The scent of blood drifted on the wind, and only our killing intent hung thick and heavy in the air.

Maybe the three have some kind of Intuition-type skill which is more effective than the【Danger Sense】skill? Or, as Yuito deduced, some kind of accessory that aids them. Otherwise, countering【Phantom】sounds impossible.
Also, I'm taking a wild guess here, Junyu, the swordsman, might have a "cut through anything"-type Unique Skill, since, cutting through an opponent depends heavily on Endurance and Spirit stats. Enough yap!
