Soul Devourer Chapter 4 Episode 45 — The Elites Of〈Kowloon〉, Wiped Out Without a Trace
The Japanese Hunter marked for purging stomped the ground with force.
In that instant, a thunderous roar shook the world hard enough to rupture eardrums, and the earth collapsed, forming a massive crater.
Soil exploded upward, vibrations racing outward. The Hunters of〈Kowloon〉lost their footing as the ground vanished beneath them, tumbling and crying out in alarm.
「W-What was that just now!?」
As they scrambled to their feet, a second shock struck.
From the bottom of the crater, a towering wall of water surged upward, swelling into a roaring tidal wave that crashed toward them.
Those quick enough, reacted with shields and magic, but most were unable to resist and were swept off their feet.
Even so, they were only pushed back a short distance. There was no real damage to speak of. When the wave subsided, only shallow water remained, soaking around their ankles.
「…What was he trying to do???」
To the elites of〈Kowloon〉, this level of flooding was no hindrance at all.
Most could not comprehend the Japanese Hunter’s intention, only confusion spreading among them.

Countless spheres of water suddenly rose from the surface. The spheres gradually shifted shape in midair, transforming into oval mirrors.
They drifted quietly around the Japanese Hunter, as though guarding him.
Mystical, yet ominous.
Few recognized what they were.
「Water Dragon’s【Ripple Aegis】…???」
One Hunter muttered softly, but without certainty. That hesitation delayed their response.
The next moment, above the Japanese Hunter’s head, swords of flame formed in numbers enough to blanket the sky.
The crimson blades quickly turned blue, their danger level visibly spiking.
Having just witnessed the terror of that azure flame, the hunters of〈Kowloon〉split into two groups.
Some tried to destroy the flaming swords with magic. Others aimed directly at the Japanese Hunter.
But every spell cast toward him was deflected the instant it touched the water mirrors, its trajectory reversed and fired back at its caster.
「Stop using magic! It’s being reflected! Close the distance and cut him down with weapons!」
The shout had barely finished when the azure flame swords began to fall like torrential rain.
「Gaaahhh!」
「My arm-! It’s burning-!!!!」
「S-Stop-! Aaaagh!!!!」
Attempting to knock them away with blades only scattered the blue flames, which clung to armor and flesh alike.
Trying to destroy them with magic only resulted in the spells being overpowered by the difference in Intelligence.
Still, by sheer numbers, a few hunters managed to slip through gaps in the falling blades and close in on the Japanese hunter.

Before they could reach him, he kicked off the ground and leapt into the sky.
Raising his palm toward the earth-

A roar split the heavens as blackened lightning poured down as a storm.
Each bolt that struck burned a hunter from crown to toe in an instant, reducing them to ash.
Those who avoided direct hits were paralyzed the moment black lightning touched the water’s surface, their bodies locking in place.
Eventually, the storm weakened. Silence seemed poised to return.
Then a massive shadow appeared overhead, covering the entire crater.
An azure sun, blazing and trembling the air itself, began to descend.
There was nowhere to run.
Scorching heat swallowed the world.
Armor, flesh, magic; even souls; were consumed by the blue light.
The elites of〈Kowloon〉vanished without even time to scream.
