Konbini Ossan Volume 11 Chapter 3 — Infirmary

After inspecting the facilities under construction, I headed to the temporary infirmary.

Since this was still a developing base, it was inevitable that there would be a large number of injuries.

So, the injured were gathered here, and personnel with powerful healing-type skills were mobilized to provide concentrated treatment.

There were mainly two reasons for my visit here.

One was to meet three members of Suzuno’s party who were working here: Nishina Yuki, Suzuhara Ayumi-sensei, and Kinoshita Tomoe-senswi.

When I entered the infirmary, Suzuhara-sensei had just finished treating someone.

“Alright, your wounds are closed now.”

“Thank you very much!”

A member of the security division, apparently injured in a battle with monsters, bowed his head to Suzuhara and left.

Beside her, Kinoshita-sensei was helping with the work, seemingly handling simple clerical tasks.

“How is work going for the two of you?”

“Otogi-san? Yes, treatments are proceeding smoothly. Though, since we’re surrounded by a forest of monsters, the number of injured is a bit concerning.”

“Given the location, that’s unavoidable. We haven’t brought any employees whose abilities don’t match the environment, so there shouldn’t be many severe injuries.”

“Yes. According to the records, there are hardly any serious cases.”

Kinoshita-sensei added to my conversation with Suzuhara-sensei while looking through documents.

“And even for those who are seriously injured, our skills can usually heal them. As long as they’re still alive.”

Suzuhara-sensei said this in a slightly somber tone.

A silence followed, but I broke it by changing the subject.

“I heard from Suzuno-san. It seems you’ll be resuming your activities as adventurers.”

At my words, both of them nodded.

“When treating the injured, I couldn’t help but think… there must have been people who wouldn’t have been hurt if we had joined as escorts.”

“It’s true that the war was a shock. But as adults, we can’t have our students protecting us.”

From their expressions, it didn’t seem like they were forcing themselves.

At the very least, resuming their activities as adventurers didn’t appear to be an unreasonable decision.

“Please don’t push yourselves too hard. We’ll provide as much support as possible.”

“Yes, thank you as always, Otogi-san.”

“Not at all. Well then.”

Having seen how they were doing, I headed to another room.

Next, I went to another infirmary room to meet Nishina and for my second purpose.

Even before opening the door, I could hear a conversation from inside.

“Hey Saori, come on, I’m asking you! There’s a really nice hot spring nearby!”

“That does sound nice, but Yuki, you’ve been pulling weird pranks lately, haven’t you?”

“I haven’t! Even if I do, it’s just a little!”

“See? You admit it. Then I’m not going.”

“Come on, don’t say that!”

Their lively chatter could be heard, but I entered without worrying about it.

Opening the door, I greeted them.

“Good work, Nishina-san, and Saori.”

Inside were Nishina Yuki and Mimori Saori, who had recently become my wife and is also the Saint of the Runegard Kingdom.

The incident during the war, and the commotion when I introduced her to my other wives afterward, already felt like distant memories.

“Yūichi-san!”

The moment she noticed me, Saori leapt at me.

If this were simply an expression of affection like Joanne’s, it would be cute, but in Saori’s case, it was driven by her desire to smell my body scent, which made things a bit complicated.

In fact, as she clung to me, I could clearly hear her sniffing around my neck.

Saori, having fully embraced her desires, had initially left everyone around her quite bewildered.

However, Nishina remained unchanged even in this situation. Perhaps she felt like her friend had been taken away, as she glared at me with undisguised jealousy.

“Grrr… Otogi-san, you’re so lucky!”

~Sniff~sniff~. Oh right, Yuki! About that hot spring ~sniff~ if Yūichi-san comes too ~sniff~sniff~ it’s fine, right?”

“Huh? N-No, that’s a bit…”

Faced with Saori’s suggestion while she continued sniffing, even Nishina hesitated.

But this wasn’t the time for that kind of conversation.

“Nishina-san, there’s something I’d like to ask.”

“Hm? What is it?”

“I heard from Suzuno-san that you’ll be returning as adventurers.”

“Ah, I see.”

Nodding in understanding, Nishina answered immediately.

“If Saori is going to fight, then I’ll fight too. So go ahead and give us requests like before, Otogi-san!”

It seemed there was no need for concern.

“Yes. Understood.”

In that case, I would continue to rely on them as adventurers without hesitation.
