Soul Devourer Chapter 4 Episode 14 — The King of Sand Sleeping in the Desert Tomb
Under the blazing sun that poured down mercilessly, I continued advancing across the scorching desert.
Blocking my path were Mummies that attacked using cursed bandages and【Earth Magic】.
Defeat one and sand would scatter, then another would appear. The endless assault continued.
When I defeated the tenth Mummy, a notification sounded, informing me that【Sandstride】had leveled up.
And then, in the distance, cutting across the endless horizon, stood a massive pyramid.
At its base, a stone-paved road, utterly out of place in the desert, stretched straight toward the entrance.
“…That must be the path to the boss room.”
Staying cautious of my surroundings, I crushed the sand beneath my feet — *crunch, crunch* — and headed toward the pyramid.
Inside, silence reigned. Torches lit at regular intervals cast flickering shadows along the stone walls of the long corridor.
At the end stood a massive door. I placed my hand upon it and entered the boss room.
Beyond the door lay another vast desert, just like before. Then, as if to shatter the silence, eleven spheres of light descended from above and sank into the sand.
In the next instant, ten Mummies rose up, sand cascading off their bodies, and at their center stood a king wrapped in gold and linen.
A radiant crown and ornaments, eyes brimming with regal authority… the figure unmistakably bore resemblance to Tutankhamun. Without question, it was a Pharaoh.
He did not wear the Mummies’ special bandages, but he possessed unfamiliar skills. I could not afford to lower my guard.
“First… I’ll clear out the underlings.”
I activated【Sandstride】and dashed across the sand as if gliding. Then I cast a wide-area annihilation spell of【Ice Magic】.
“«Icicle Rain»”
Countless icicles poured down like a torrential downpour from the sky. With【Parallel Casting】, I deployed the same spell nine more times.

“…Are these even monsters?”
I activated【Discernment】on one, but no status information appeared at all.
I tried activating【Slash Arts】and swung《Sea Dragon’s Naval Aglyphs》. The sand soldier split cleanly in two… yet no notification sounded.
Moreover, the scattered sand gathered and reformed instantly.
“Just worthless fodder that doesn’t even grant experience… What a waste of time.”
Clicking my tongue, I kicked up sand, cutting down the sand soldiers as I charged straight toward the Pharaoh.
As I raced forward like a gale, the sand army reacted a moment too late and moved in unison behind me.
Just as I neared the Pharaoh, my vision was swallowed by a sandstorm.
“Damn…!【Phantom】•【Warp】!”
Even within the sandstorm, the Pharaoh’s【Vital Sense】pursued me.
That was precisely why I erased my presence completely with【Phantom】and teleported behind it with【Warp】.
Before the Pharaoh could turn,《Sea Dragon’s Naval Aglyphs》flashed with a streak of light and severed the king’s neck in a single stroke.
Silence.
The Pharaoh’s head sank into the sand, and at the same time, the sand army dissolved as though weathered away by the wind.
