Soul Devourer Chapter 3 Episode 29 — Seeking Eye-Witness Accounts on a Dedicated Thread

First, I thought about how to allocate the fifteen skill points I’d accumulated. That said, I’d already decided which skill to put them into.

『Skill【Conversion】Lv.10 UP』

I allocated ten points and maxed out【Conversion】. This raised the rate at which excess experience accumulates to 10%.

For example, if I were to acquire a duplicate of【Concealment】Lv.10, that would be 10% of the skill experience value [362,880,000], meaning [36,288,000] would be accumulated.

(E/N: I have no clue what acquiring a duplicate skill means… Aren't we acquiring any skill once? If anyone understands, please comment 😅)

With that much, I could raise a single skill all the way to level 8.

Just imagining being able to mass-produce high-level skills makes the grin spread uncontrollably across my face.

Now then, as for how to allocate the excess experience, my priorities are:

First, frequently used skills like【Phantom】and【Warp】;

Second, status ailment-type skills like【Toxin Resistance】and【Sleep Resistance】.

Third, highly-difficult-to-acquire skills like【Ki Martial Arts】and【Slash Arts】. That’s the general plan for distributing the excess experience.

『Skill【Phantom】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Phantom】Lv.9 UP』

『Skill【Warp】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Warp】Lv.9 UP』

『Skill【Toxin Resistance】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Sleep Resistance】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Charm Resistance】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Paralysis Resistance】Lv.8 UP』

『Skill【Ki Martial Arts】Lv.4 UP』

『Skill【Ki Martial Arts】Lv.5 UP』

I raised【Phantom】and【Warp】to level 9, and everything else to level 8, finishing the allocation of excess experience.

After finishing what I needed to do, I contacted my parents once, then tried calling the Guildmaster about yesterday’s incident, but couldn’t get through.

Thinking he was probably busy handling things on-site, I turned my thoughts to what I should do next.

How was it possible for a group numbering in the hundreds to so easily attack the Hunter Guild?

Wanting to know the reason, I looked things up online again that morning, and found several comments that struck me as odd.

The articles had written things like, “A mysterious group in military uniforms suddenly appeared in front of the Hunter Guild.

No matter how you look at it, that’s clearly strange.

If a mysterious group in military uniforms had marched their way to the front of the Hunter Guild, that would at least make some sense.

You could assume they were hiding somewhere and acted on the day the operation was carried out.

Though even then, it would raise serious questions about Japan’s defense systems.

But the articles said they appeared suddenly.

In other words, they materialized right in front of people’s eyes, which strongly suggests it was the effect of a skill or an item.

That’s why, in order to identify the cause of that phenomenon, it’s necessary to capture the Chi*ese hunters who fled.

“Now then, how do I find them…”

I’m not the police, and I don’t have any particularly convenient search skills. That being the case, the only option is to gather eyewitness accounts and pinpoint their location.

Finding a dedicated thread that was buzzing with activity due to yesterday’s incident, I anonymously asked for sightings.

E/N:

Isn't it frustrating when the character doesn't max out skill levels or doesn't have enough points to max them out? Now we wait for another battle or maybe dungeon dive?

Stay tuned!

What's more terrifying to me is that he's constantly sacrificing his stats even though he's gonna be facing unknown enemies. Although we barely see the stats of others, so maybe he's leaving enough leeway for himself not to be overpowered and it looks like skills matter more in this system than stats. But even to a casual gamer like me it looks crazy when someone's stats just drop by half or more.
