Konbini Ossan Volume 8 Chapter 25 — The Great Sage of Incompetence
“To think that a great figure from a thousand years ago still lives even now.”
Vladgaria mutters this while keeping a wary gaze fixed on Shuri-kun.
Shuri-kun responds with a troubled expression.
“When you say ‘a thousand years ago’, it makes me sound like some ridiculously ancient grandpa. I don’t like that, you know?”
“But it is fact, is it not?”
At Vladgaria’s question, Shuri-kun shakes his head.
“For the record, I’ve only lived about a hundred and fifty years since awakening in ‘this body’. Don’t make it sound like I’ve been a frail old man living continuously for a thousand years.”
“Oh? So that body of yours truly is something ‘other than human’.”
Leaving everyone else behind, the two continue their exchange.
I understand what they are saying, but I cannot hide my astonishment.
“Ahaha, that’s right! Including the failed ones, this is my ‘third’ homunculus body!
…
After plenty of trial and error, I finally obtained this ideal vessel. Well, thanks to that, I can do things like this, too.”
The moment he says that, Shuri-kun draws a magic circle.
“Guh!”
The spell activates instantly, binding Leonis’ body in rings of light.
“Now, now. You shouldn’t interrupt while someone’s talking, you know?”
“H-How…?”
“I can tell, you see. This body is specially made. My eyes can perceive all sorts of things ordinary sight can’t.”
As he speaks, Shuri-kun walks closer to Leonis.
“Do you know about snakes? They have sensory organs different from human vision.
…
Those organs can detect variations in temperature. Enviable, right? So I ‘made’ these eyes to function like that.”
Leonis’ expression shifts as though he is staring at something dreadful. He averts his gaze from Shuri-kun.
“And not just temperature. I can see variations in magical density, almost like a form of clairvoyance.
…
Fluctuations in electromagnetism, microscopic details, vision that reaches far into the distance. With all of that combined, it’s easy to tell.”
“T-Tell what?”
“That you were about to make a move against me. Your muscles tensed. You gathered strength. I could see you preparing to charge at me as clearly as if I were holding it in my hand.
…
So I drew a magic circle and stopped you. Simple, isn’t it?”
By explaining everything in such detail, Shuri-kun likely forced Leonis to consider just how vast the gap between them truly is, and how slim his chances of victory are.
“I… have lost.”
Leonis lowers his head naturally and acknowledges his defeat.
“The fifth checkpoint: The winner is Shuri-kun.”
The resolution is so decisive that I cannot even muster the energy to raise my voice. I declare it almost in a murmur.
Shuri-kun immediately runs over to me.
“Heheh, I won, Otogin~!”
(E/N: Praise me, praise me~!😂)
And then he hugs me.
“As expected of you, Shuri-kun. You met every expectation.”
“Really? I’d say it was more of a letdown. I’d probably lose to Demon King-chan, sure, but I was hoping the others would put up a better fight.
…
Opportunities to battle with the 3D Pen don’t come around often, you know?”
He says this while holding up the 3D Pen.
“Well, I can fight like this thanks to you making it for me, Otogin. Thanks!”
“You’re welcome.”
“Ahem!”
As Shuri-kun and I continue our display of affection, a loud cough sounds from behind us.
“You two, this is hardly the time for such behavior. It is my turn to fight next, is it not?”
With those words, Vladgaria steps forward.

E/N:
Homunculus?! That's crazy, or not considering this is a fantasy! Shuri-kun, TUEEEE na! (TUEE is the Japanese equivalent of Overpowered, often used in WNs nowadays, derived from [ 強い ] or [ つよい ] or ‘Tsuyoi’)
Stay tuned!
