After exiting the dungeon, I called out to a nearby guild staff member and quickly moved to another spot.
There, I lined up the bodies of members of「Grimm Reaper」members and the victimized party, then handed over the personal effects to the staff.
“I’m heading to the next location, so please take care of the cleanup.”
“Hunter Matsubara, thank you for your assistance!”

The talking ended, and they shifted into combat formation. I also took《Death Venom Fangs of the Centipede King》from《Magic Pouch》and readied myself… and then, the enemy was already right in front of me.
I deflected the weapon swung down in a diagonal cut with《Death Venom Fangs of the Centipede King》.
“Nuh… to think my blade would be deflected…”
This guy had caught my attention from the start.
He wore a helmet and armor like someone who had time-slipped from the Sengoku period, and carried a sword with a distinctive curved blade.
I had never encountered a hunter who used a katana before, but it seems there really are some.
Come to think of it, when choosing a beginner weapon after registering as a hunter, there definitely were katanas available.
Then why are there so few katana-using hunters? Well, I picked a longsword at first too.
In my case, novels and anime definitely influenced that choice… but whatever.
I waited for a follow-up attack, but it didn’t come. It seemed they had planned to take me out with a surprise attack if possible, and if not, fight in coordination with their comrades.

Anyway, the new skills:
•【Katana Arts】differs from【Swordsmanship】in that the specific sword used is, obviously, Katana.
•【Flashdraw】is basically Battōjutsu or Iaido-jutsu that you usually encounter in anime. Draw the blade in a swift motion and cut whatever's in front before it notices it's dead, Jin Sakai-style 🤣
•【Flashstep】is basically Shukuchi that again is present in lots of battle anime. The feet swiftly moves in a jump-slide motion, allowing a master of this technique to move around the field without taking a single step.
Usually, the wide-legged trousers, Hakama, worn by Kenjutsu practitioners, hide their feet thus, allowing them to strategize and confuse their enemies; taking in account and katana's length and the person's arm-length. Sorry for the yap!
