Konbini Ossan Volume 6 Chapter 7 — Omega Wurgas Silk

After going on a rampage in the forest, I began the trip back to the capital the next day.

It turned out I’d been far more stressed than I realized.

Even after all that fighting my mind wouldn’t settle, and so my return journey ended up being slow… relatively speaking.

Even at a constant jog I was still moving far faster than anyone on foot.

By the time I arrived at the royal capital three days later, my head had cooled, and my thoughts were neatly sorted.

I had made up my mind about Arisa.

She chose her own path.

So I would see her off properly.

As the one who raised her, I would do what I must.

Repeating that resolve in my mind, I passed through the capital gates.

When I returned, it seemed Arisa had already explained everything to everyone.

The staff, Maria, Shirley — they all asked what had happened, but when I told them everything was exactly as Arisa had explained, they backed down, though clearly still unconvinced.

Next, regarding the Wurgas cocoons I had gathered.

Through Maria’s connections, I was introduced to the most skilled textile artisan she knew — an old establishment even nobles used.

I asked Maria to negotiate on my behalf and have the cocoons woven into fabric.

After that, life returned to its usual rhythm.

At the workshop I replenished components and materials for magic tools and worked on new designs.

At the shop I took evening shifts while reviewing operations.

Everything had run smoothly while I was away.

Revenue was almost unchanged except for a slight increase in expenses due to purchasing stock I normally handled myself.

Nothing concerning.

Now that I was back, it would return to normal soon enough.

About a week later, Maria brought me the finished fabric.

The Omega Wurgas silk was exceptional.

Smooth to the touch without that strange cheap slipperiness.

Light, durable, and sparkling in soft seven-colored glimmers like a scattering of jewels.

Pure-white fabric shimmering like this was more than worthy to bless Arisa’s future.

With the finished cloth in hand, I headed for the orphanage.

I needed to see Rosa, who handled the stitching of the anti-blade robes.

The orphanage, supported by the income from robe-making, was under renovation, much cleaner than before.

Rosa came to meet me at once when she heard I’d arrived.

“Papa! Welcome back!”

She ran and threw herself at me.

For a moment I was startled, but yes — Rosa now called me Papa.

“I have returned. Rosa, I trust you’ve been well?”

“Um, I’m… the same as always?”

My roundabout phrasing had confused her.

“I'm glad to hear everything is peaceful. Rosa, I came today with a request.”

“A request?”

“Yes. First, please take a look at this.”

I pulled Omega Wurgas silk from my pouch and held it out.

“Wow… it’s so pretty!”

“Rosa, I want you to use this to make a beautiful dress.”

“Eh? Me? With this?”

“Yes. Will you do it?”

She hesitated briefly, then nodded.

“I’m a little nervous, but I’ll try my best, Papa!”

“Thank you. For test runs, please use this fabric.”

I took out more cloth — silk made from normal Wurgas cocoons I had harvested along the way.

Weaker than the Omega type, but still a luxury material.

Ideal for experimenting.

“You may keep any leftover fabric. And I promise to buy the completed dress at full price. Finally, here are the measurements you’ll need.”

I handed her a sheet containing Arisa’s body measurements — apparently taken earlier by the women before the Omega silk had finished.

Rosa accepted everything and nodded with determination.

“Okay! I’ll do my best!”

If it was Rosa, the dress would be fine.
Her recent work on anti-blade robes had become quite elaborate — she was ready for a challenge like this.

With so much test fabric, she would surely create something wonderful.

“Well then, I’ll take my—”

As I started to take my leave, Rosa’s small hand suddenly wrapped around mine and squeezed tightly.

“Rosa?”

“Um… Papa, today…”

She hesitated, then spoke.

“You looked sad. Papa… what’s wrong?”

Her words pierced straight through me, and for a moment I had no reply.

E/N:

No matter how much you say you've made up your mind, Ossan, Arisa-chan is still in your heart. There's still time, go make things right, ffs!

Stay tuned!

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**

Though I say that, you can skip if you want. Still I want y'all to read 😂.

As y'all have already noticed, I have a Ko-fi account now, yay! So if anyone wishes to donate for my hardwork (I'm stealing my MTLer's credit 😂), please do.

Any amount is fine (lowest is $1), you may write a message for improvement or encouragement. I would be very grateful since, I'm currently a student and your help will help me build some savings.

You may directly donate in Ko-fi or QR codes for Wise and UPI (for Indian Subcontinent users) are also available so, whichever you find suitable.

Donation aside, please allow me to clarify that I do these translations for fun. I will never ask my readers, forcing them to donate, put chapters behind paywalls or make annoying pop-up ads for donations. That is my motto since I myself am a reader just like y'all.

Once again, I'll appreciate your bits and advice. Join me in this translation journey, I shall be translating a crap-ton of WNs and LNs along the way!

Thank you for listening to me yap! 😂
