Konbini Ossan Volume 6 Chapter 24 — A Conclusion…?

I moved to finish the fight and seize victory.

Kanehama’s momentary flinch from the pain and swelling in his hand told me it was time to end this.

He noticed my intent immediately. Switching from defense to offense, he closed in to settle things before my endless trickery could drain him further.

He drew his sword from the ground and advanced.

Without the light barrier, my dark-matter flechettes began striking him again, though each one fizzled against the thin veil of light he now wore around his body instead.

Even so, the impact clearly took a toll; his expression twisted for a brief moment.

This was the moment to push.

I activated a skill I had relied on many times before: «Body Odour». Unlike the evolved «Miasma», this was nothing but a hideous odor.

But in the middle of battle, what does a person do when they’re suddenly hit by an overwhelming smell?

The answer was right in front of me. Kanehama stiffened for an instant, his refined swordsmanship disrupted by pure reflex.

And since the stench was neither poison nor curse, it likely never triggered his future-prediction abilities.

An unidentified attack his foresight could not interpret. The perfect blind spot.

Naturally, I didn’t waste it.

I spat onto my dark-matter karambit and slashed toward him. He reacted and blocked with his sword.

At that moment, I activated the next skills.

First, «Illumination». Magic surged through my eyes and flashed with blinding light. Not an attack, so his foresight wouldn’t have warned him.

Next, «Moisturize». By forcing moisture to cling to the spit I had placed on the blade, I rapidly dried it out.

Because that spit was actually created with «Adhesive Fluid». Once fully dried, it hardened into an extremely strong bond.

I had prepared it with the intention of making it as tough as possible. And now, the dried adhesive locked his sword and my knife together.

With his vision blown out and his foresight useless against something as mundane as drying spit, Kanehama couldn’t respond in time.

I yanked the knife.

Originally he had stepped in, bracing himself to stop my swing. His weight and strength were already directed toward me.

Now the unexpected pull threw his balance off completely.

He reflexively tried to stabilize himself, but the glued-together blades turned his correction into a misstep.

Two layers of the unexpected — and Kanehama stumbled headlong into my chest.

This was it.

He sensed something through future-sight and strained to activate defensive magic, but it was far too late.

Our bodies were already pressed close.

I used the final skill.

«Self-Destruct».

Believing this was the decisive moment, I unleashed «Self-Destruct» at the greatest output my body could withstand.

Enough recoil damage that continuing the fight would normally be impossible.

My high stats amplified the blast. A violent shockwave engulfed us both.

Dirt surged into the air.

Smoke flooded the space within Mimori’s barrier until visibility dropped to zero.

Within that choking haze, my body battered and bleeding from the self-inflicted explosion—

I felt the cold touch of a blade press lightly against my neck.

“Looks like this makes it my win.”

It was Kanehama’s voice.
