Konbini Ossan Volume 3 Chapter 5 — Security Magic Tool Set
“First, this robe. It’s the same robe everyone helped make, but in my shop, I sell them as magic tools by adding enchantments.”
“Is that so?”
Isabella looked over the robe with curiosity. After confirming there was nothing unusual about it, she spoke again.
“What kind of magic tool is this robe?”
“Simply put, it’s far sturdier than armor. Even if you stab it with a sword, it won’t tear.”
“My, you can make such a marvelous magic tool? Its performance is on par with relics excavated from dungeons!”
Surprised by my explanation, Isabella-san began examining the robe again. But I still had other magic tools prepared.
“And next, this candy.”
I opened a bag and pulled out a spherical candy.
“This is a magic tool I named Security Candy.”
“Y-you turned candy into a magic tool?”
“Yes. As long as you’re just sucking on it, it’s an ordinary candy. But if you bite down—”
I tossed one into my mouth and bit down.
Instead of shattering, the candy released a piercing, powerful sound like a woman’s scream.
Everyone quickly covered their ears against the sudden noise. It would be cruel to let it go on, so I stopped biting.
“As you can see, it produces a loud sound.

If you keep one in your mouth while working, you can frighten off an opponent in an emergency and alert those around you that something has happened.”
“I-I see…”
Isabella stared at the bag of candies with a bitter expression. It seemed the sound had been quite unpleasant.
For reference, the skills I added were «Impact Absorption» and «Scream».
The robe also carries «Impact Absorption».
As for «Scream», it originates from the natural property of a certain mineral, which was turned into a skill.
Apply pressure, and it produces a scream-like sound — that’s all the skill does.
To make sure the candy can withstand that pressure, I granted it «Impact Absorption».
Properly sucked, it melts, so it still functions as food.
By the way, the «Scream» skill is similar in nature to my own «Insomnia» or «Speed Reading».

Though in the case of «Scream», it likely wasn’t a naturally occurring skill.

Otherwise, it would be strange for such a common mineral property to become a skill.
Now, there’s one more security magic tool I brought today.
“Lastly, this magic stone.”
I pulled out a magic stone.
“This is what I call a Protection Magic Stone. I’ve inscribed it with barrier magic that shields the body.

In an emergency, simply hold it in your hand and channel mana into it. The stored mana within will activate the barrier.

Even if it runs out, just leave it in sunlight and the mana will naturally recover. If you feel in danger, don’t hesitate to use it.”
At my words, Isabella-san blinked in astonishment.
“A-a magic tool imbued with magic itself? That must have been expensive!”
“It’s fine. I made it myself, so it didn’t cost much. Though, if I sell it as merchandise, I’ll price it accordingly.”
Saying this, I handed the Protective Magic Stone to Joan-kun.
“Now then, Joan-kun. Try using the Protective Magic Stone.”
“Y-yes!”
Just as I instructed, Joan-kun gripped the stone and poured mana into it. Immediately, his body was wrapped in a bluish-white glow.
That glow was the barrier magic.
Normally, once the magic stone’s mana is depleted, you’d need to recharge it before reusing it.
But this one also carries «Light Absorption», so it can recharge itself and be used repeatedly.
Generally speaking, enchantments can only embed attributes and skills.
But attributes themselves are like skills that let you use magic without a circle.
From that perspective, attaching ordinary magic should also be possible.
And in theory, it is. But in practice, it’s far more difficult than adding an attribute. Only a handful of geniuses are capable of doing it.
Which is why, as a rule, magic is considered impossible to embed.
Yet here, this Protective Magic Stone carries a support spell — barrier magic.
I drafted the magic circle, then had Shuri-kun check it. He corrected half of it and completely rewrote the rest.
Thanks to him, the item was completed.
In short, it’s fair to say this tool is practically Shuri-kun’s work.
Incidentally, magic circles are protected much like intellectual property.
Highly original circles, if copied without permission, are treated as a crime.
In this case, though, I created the base circle myself, so there’s no issue.
In terms of rights, this would be considered a joint work with Shuri-kun.
Roughly twenty percent of my original design remains, so it just barely qualifies as co-authored.
“This is amazing, Onii-chan! This is magic, right?”
(E/N: No idea why Joan used Onii-chan. Or maybe Rosa said this line?)
“Yes, that’s right.”
“I used magic for the first time!”
Grinning ear to ear, Joan-kun seemed delighted with the Protective Magic Stone. Since he’ll be using it daily from now on, I’m glad he likes it.
*Now then, what of Isabella-san’s reaction?*
“Well then, Isabella-san. With magic tools like these, wouldn’t you say even children can work safely?”
“Yes. If you’re entrusting them with such tools, then I don’t think there will be any problems.”
It seemed she was convinced. With Isabella-san’s approval, I could now begin training Joan-kun.
The plan was to first get him accustomed to the delivery work itself.
As the workload increased, I’d provide more defensive tools and involve other children as well.
At that point, Joan-kun would serve as their mentor.
Step by step, from simple tasks to leadership, he would gain the skills to manage others.
Eventually, he could grow into a field commander capable of directing many people.
It’s a long-term vision, but expanding the scale of work will take time anyway.
There’s no rush — we’ll proceed steadily.
