Konbini Ossan Volume 1 Chapter 26 – Body Odor of Aging

To drive the goblins away, I focused my mind on activating a certain skill strongly.

Immediately, a foul stench started emanating from my body.

Even I, the source of the smell, grimaced at the horrid stench.

For goblins, who have a more sensitive sense of smell than humans, it was unbearable. All five of them instantly threw up their arms and fled.

After making sure they were gone, I deactivated the skill.

The name of this skill is «Aging Body Odor» — a skill that causes a bad smell to be emitted from the body.

Apparently, this «Aging Body Odor» skill wasn’t given to me by the goddess, but rather something I acquired on my own.

That’s because I have a skill called «Skill Check», which allows me to examine the details of the skills I possess.

Thanks to this, I’m able to look into and keep track of the countless skills I hold.

Even back when I was in the royal palace, I had been using this skill to examine my own abilities.

That’s when I found this skill — «Aging Body Odor». At first, I was a bit annoyed, thinking, “Did they really have to give me this?

But after checking it closely, I noticed the time of acquisition was set far in the past.

Curious, I went ahead and checked a few other skills.

The result — I found several skills that had also been acquired long before I ever met the goddess.

That led me to form a certain hypothesis.

Perhaps during the process of being transferred to this other world by the goddess, any unique traits or special abilities a person possesses get converted into skills.

That would explain why the skills seem to have been acquired before even meeting the goddess.

I can’t say for certain, but I’m fairly confident in this theory.

After all, I possess the skills «Reading» and «Speed Reading», which I supposedly acquired over ten years ago — which lines up perfectly with the time I was practically living in the library as a university student.

Thinking about it that way, it’s a little depressing to imagine that I might’ve already been emitting body odor of aging back in Japan.

But that’s not the important part.

More importantly, I discovered another extremely useful skill.

It’s called «Insomnia», a skill that removes the need for sleep and prevents you from falling asleep.

For most people, this would be a torturous condition, but not for me. After all, I learned healing magic from Shuri-kun.

By not sleeping thanks to «Insomnia», I can continue working nonstop while using healing magic to recover both my physical and mental fatigue.

Then, once my magic replenishes over time, I can recover my stamina again. This cycle lets me function without ever needing sleep.

Also, I happened to acquire the «Night Vision» skill, which seems to be something monsters commonly have.

Thanks to this, I can see perfectly well even in the forest at night.

That means I can continue gathering herbs at night just as efficiently. Compared to normal herb gathering, this is far more productive.

And that’s not even the end of it.

I also possess a skill called «Pestilence» which is a skill monsters use to spread disease and torment humans. Its effect is rather unique.

The more you make humans suffer from poor health, the more experience points you gain.

It’s no surprise that a disease-spreading monster would grow stronger through inflicting illness.

What’s especially interesting is how lenient the conditions for this skill are.

Amazingly, it works on any human. Even — yes — yourself.

I stay awake with «Insomnia» and force my body to function using healing magic.

During this time, I’m technically living an unhealthy lifestyle. That means I meet the conditions for «Pestilence» to gain experience, and I level up rapidly.

Now, here’s what my stats look like:

——————————
Name: Yuichi Otsugi
Level: 48

Strength: C
Magic Power: C
Stamina: C
Speed: C

Attribute: None

Skills: ERROR
——————————

At this point, my stats are strong enough to live as a proper adventurer. With all C-rank stats, I qualify as a C-rank adventurer — a full-fledged professional.

Of course, having this low of a status at Level 48 is ridiculously inefficient, but...

Even so, becoming stronger is a good thing. I can probably defeat a goblin in a straight fight now.

Which means, my safety is finally secured. That’s extremely important when working.

After all, there’s no such thing as worker’s compensation in this world. You’ve got to protect yourself.

E/N:

What a foul move by Ossan, pun intended. 🤣

These conditions are indeed lenient, Ossan is basically a perpetual human now! And the growth, it's way too fast for a single day! Let's grind!
